Now, I'm not posting this to bash on the PS3, cuz it's just getting too easy nowadays. My biggest point is that at E3, Sony and Epic were always talking about how development for Unreal Tournament 3 was coming along so well on the PS3, that the PS3 version would launch along side the PC version months before the 360 version is released. The early release of the PS3 version didn't come from a bribe, or an exclusive contract, it came from the fact that PS3 UE3 games were coming along so well. So the PS3 version could be delayed to the point where it's no longer a timed exclusive, and comes out around the same time as the 360 version, still months after the PC version. This doesn't just effect Epic games, but any games that use the Unreal Engine 3, which is very big this generation.

What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are that a bunch of stupid fanboys are gonna come in here and be gay like every thread that specifically deals with one console

It's good and it's bad.

On one hand, if it was released the same time as the PC then it wouldn't have gotten all the PC maps.

With it being delayed they are able to put in all the maps plus there should be a good amount of mods by that time.

Btw, it's still coming out before the 360 version.

It's not going to get all the PC maps, anyway. The PC will have a special edition in a tin container, like UT2004, it will have more vehicles and maps and so on.

Also, there's nothing saying that the 360 version couldn't come out before the PS3 version. It's likely that developers are running into the same problems with the PS3 they had with the 360 months ago. They'll either come out about the same time, or within a month of one another.
Midway now expects Unreal Tournament III to ship on PlayStation 3 sometime during the first quarter of fiscal 2008, which for the company runs from January to March next year.

Literally every game is running on the UE3, hell even SquareEnix have licensed it.

What would you rather have? Just UT3? Or literally every other game?

Citing technical issues that have "taken more time to finalize than expected", David Zucker says that the delays for each will materially affect Midway's 2007 revenue. On the plus side, Zucker says those technical issues are now "complete at a core level in our engine" and that "now that we have the systems working, looking ahead to 2008 we expect the PS3 versions of our titles to ship day and date with other versions."

Both Stranglehold and BlackSite: Area 51 will ship later than their Xbox 360 counterparts in North America and Europe respectively, largely due to "bumps" the development teams have experienced along the way. Both are cross-platform games built on Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3.0.

GamePro have dug up some old NPD figures, taken a look at some new NPD figures and drawn up a pretty little graph which shows the PS3 is selling slower than the GameCube. Ouch. Low blow.

...they have divulged that 55% of all PS3 sales in the country were made within four days of the console's launch. Which was in March. It's now October. That leaves a whole lot of days without a whole lot of PS3 sales.

It's a shame that, as nice as Lair looks, it's going to be remembered for one thing: how awful its controls are. Trying to fly a dragon using the sixaxis is like trying to wrestle a teflon bull that's been basted in cooking grease. Which begs the question: with no old-fashioned control scheme to revert to, did Sony force Factor 5 to make it Sixaxis-only?
Anymore requests?

Mark Rein writes on the official Epic Games forums that the delay is not set in stone and that Midway was simply warning investors about the possibility of a delay, adding that "our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007." He later writes "there is a chance it will come out in December." The silver lining is that the PS3 version will now feature all of the maps present in the PC version.

Hmm, maybe you were right, Macro. Hopefully, the extra time will also let them get the crossplatform working, so PS3 users can play against PC users.

Unreal Tournament doesn't belong in consoles anyways.
