Cliffs of Dover > Orion

Mhmmm.

yep, by far. eric johnson is a fantastic musician. i wish his tone wasn't so drenched in reverb, though.

^^ don't tell him that. I hear he's fanatical about his tone and prides himself on being a tone guru.

heh, yeah. that's really my main issue with a lot of those guys actually (vai, satch, johnson) they all sound like they're in the middle of a stadium wherever they play.

eric is great at what he does, and no matter how fast he plays, every note rings like a bell;

i just wish that bell didn't sound like it was coming from inside a tunnel due to all of the echo.

After playing this song so many times I will agree.

Orion > Cliffs of Dover > Ktulu > To Live is to Die

What can I say, I love Cliff Burton. Cliffs of Dover is an amazing song, though. If there were a sign that meant "the two songs are so close, but this one beats out this one", then it would be perfect for how I feel about Orion and Cliffs of Dover.

I Didn't know Metallica had more than 3 instrumentals ( not including those gay but awesome little 1 minute things they do during live shows )

Always thought it was just Orion, To live is to die, and Ktulu...

Someone wanna name any others they have

Anesthesia is the only other one, and that's really more of a bass solo.

I love all of Metallica's instrumentals except for Anesthesia. That one didn't do much for me.

I heard that Jason wanted My Friend of Misery to be an instrumental for Black, but you know how the other guys were. The rest of Metallica weren't very fair to Jason, and weren't very open to many of his ideas.

would've been a cool instrumental, but works as it is.

they havent done an instrumental since Justice, which kind of sucks.

Such a shame Jason left, I thought he was amazing, just wish the rest of the guys would have let him contribute a little more

I prefer Orion to Call of Ktulu, mainly because of the sweet bass part in the middle.
