Anyone buy it yet?
Bunch of my buddies currently play BF2 and we're all decently ranked... However, BF2's random head shots and imbalances are slowly catching up to it! We're thinking about moving over to COD4... :)

Is it just me or does this game not come out for 6 more days?

Played the demo but to me CoD will always be a WWII set game. I can remember playing the demo of the first CoD in Summer 2003 and being absolutely blown away and still am, no war game has compared so far to levels such as Brecourt, Pegasus Bridge or Stalingrad/Red Square.
Can't believe that was 4 years ago... fuck I love WWII.
But Id say go for it, CoD has always had great multiplayer.

whoever gets it let me know if it's worthwhile.... for some reason, EA still insists on charging full proce for this when it comes out, even though the new FEAR expasnion pack thing and halo 3 all dropped by $20 in price when they launched. fuck you EA

Well, I have the 360 version and it's incredibly badass.
I thought Halo 3 was a great game, but this is just a whole
new level of extremely badass.

I'll probably drop by my local Rogers tomorrow and pick up a copy. From what some of my friends told me, it looks like a winner. I also heard one of the characters is a relative of Cpt. Price from COD and COD 2. Nice touch.

Sounds like its badass.
I have COD4 for Xbox 360!
Its seriously one of the best games Ive played in a long time. I agree that Halo 3 was great (oddly enough because I never really thought it was as special as everyone made it to be, but Halo 3 was an exception), but CoD4 is basically blowing my socks off!
Does anyone wanna play over live????

The average ranking for this game on gamerankings.com is 95%... that's about as close to pure win as you can get.

I got 1800 kills over one fucking week that I had the Multiplayer Beta. I don't usually try to play games that much but this sucked my soul in.
Man... I really don't want to spend the money on this BUT I NEED IT.
I just finished playing for 2 hours on multiplayer on the 360 haven't even touched the story yet. I racked up 300+ kills and Staff Sargent ranking. I've also completed a lot of challenges. I'm looking to sell my copy of Halo 3 because I'm not going back.

I'll be picking it up this weekend when I go home to build my new PC. I'm a CoD man through and through, and I'm excited.

The multiplayer is freaking amazing. I haven't seen any very realistic games along the lines of R6 Vegas play so smooth in multiplayer, but CoD4 is like butta. I absolutely love the melee, which was one of my favorite features in Halo multiplayer, and it really comes in handy for those quick up-close kills when you don't want to expose your position on radar. Lots of people are having problems with errors on install or running tho, including all of my clan members except me. :banghead:

It comes out on Steam on like the 11th or 12th, that might be what you were thinking of.

I have it for PS3 and beat the story mode in about 5 hours. The AC-130 gunship level was purely epic. Multiplayer is fun, but I'd say its far from realistic. I hate it when people shoot and strafe back and forth!
Buy It!

32 for non-dedicated, 100+ dedicated trusting you have super duper connection.
Btw, Im running Geforce 7600 GT, Dual core 4200+, 2 gigs of ram.... Im running multiplayer on Extreme graphics settings and multiplayer on high. This just shows how well optimized this game is, best looking game i can think of.
Whats your guys levels? Right now Im a 25 and been playingg for about 5 hours.

Just picked it up tonight, pretty fucking awesome so far. Unfortunately, the UPS guy was fucking retarded and I'll have to do without my new computer for another week, but I installed it on my current rig with a 6800 Ultra, 2gb RAM, AMD 4200+, and it runs even better than COD2, lol.
I have it on 1650x1080 with normal settings and I get a steady framerate, can't wait to get it on that new rig.
Question though: When I reinstall it on the new computer, am I going to lose my achievements? It looks like it's tied to the installation...

i wish the campaign was longer. and i wish you could open/shotgun/breach doors like NPC's can. Plus the guns sound weak for the most part, and the enemies seem like they're made out of paper when they get shot (seems like an EA thing!).
kinda minor gripes though, the rest is excellent, very well executed and polished - and multiplayer is insanely good :boink:

Has any attempt been made to put a stop to bunnyhopping and other dishonest ways to avoid getting killed in multiplayer? Is the player forced to take cover when being shot at as would be realistic? Are guns completely inaccurate if people fire without aiming down the sites, as would be realistic?
If not, then i won't even consider it. The CoD single player games have always been excellent, but multiplayer has been a nightmare. On large maps everybody is a sniper and on small maps they just run around firing from the hip with whatever machine gun their team has, i don't play that shit.

The realisim was stepped up a huge notch. I havent seen a single bunny hopper, its easy as fuck to get killed, and your aim will be shit if you dont use sites.

I haven't seen anything dishonest or bunnyhopping or the like. The closest is the people that just alternate strafing and crouching and jumping and proning a lot while they shoot at you. But if you just stay calm and keep your sites on them you'll win out from how innacurate all that moving makes their fire.
There's also an insane amount of cover on every map, so snipers aren't very effective. And yes, you have to take cover when being shot at, you can die relatively easily. As far as accuracy goes, even with the perk that increases hip-fire accuracy, you still need to iron site anyone over 20 feet away to get hits. Most people use some form of assault rifle, or shotgun on close-range maps.
The thing that pisses me off the most is the Martyrdom perk that everyone and their mom uses, where you drop a live grenade automatically when you die. Now you have to run away from bodies when you get a kill.

^^ I don't see many people use martyrdom... Everyone seems to like Deep Impact, and I think it's awesome when they use Last Stand (I think it's called?), and I just lay into them with my mg when they try to pick up their pistol.
I find myself strictly playing hardcore mode online now, I'm not a huge fan of radar.
The radar is kinda a cool twist, I mean now you can find everyone, and if you don't want to be found then use silencers. The Game is outstanding, online gameplay has been stealing my time for over the last week, and now im ranked 2nd leuitenenant. Anyone wanna play my gamertag is Madame Wang.

I can't help myself but get hooked to this. Gotta say i've been having the same problem I have with every CoD. I own way too hard. It's like no one is really good at the game itself. I think my worst game was 21/13.
But boasting aside, this game does kick ass.
I found myself enjoying the 360 Live more than the PC online though, I guess it just feels much more even and tactical than the run and gun PC turns into.
