Some 18-year old senior shot up a school here in Finland today. News reports vary from 1 dead to 7 dead. Seemed to be a Eric&Dylan fanboy, as his writings and videos on YouTube suggest: http://www.youtube.com/user/Sturmgeist89

"Funny" that he posted a video called "Jokela High School Massacre 11/7/2007" yesterday, and noone took any action. The video has been deleted now, but it contained some ramblings about his weaponry and some stupid philosphy.

We have superstrict gun laws here in Finland, so its interesting to see where he got the gun from.

edit: they suspended his youtube account, but heres what he wrote on his profile:

Male from Finland.

I am a cynical existentialist, antihuman humanist, antisocial socialdarwinist, realistic idealist and godlike atheist.

SI VIS PACEM, PARA BELLUM! JUSTITIA SUUM CUIQUE DISTRIBUIT! SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS!

I am prepared to fight and die for my cause. I, as a natural selector, will eliminate all who I see unfit, disgraces of human race and failures of natural selection.

You might ask yourselves, why did I do this and what do I want. Well, most of you are too arrogant and closed-minded to understand... You will proprably say me that I am"insane", "crazy", "psychopath", "criminal" or crap like that. No, the truth is that I am just an animl, a human, an individual, a dissident.

I have had enough. I don't want to be part of this fucked up society. Like some other wise people have said in the past, human race is not worth fighting for or saving... only worth killing. But... When my enemies will run and hide in fear when mentioning my name... When the gangsters of the corrupted governments have been shot in the streets... When the rule of idioracy and the democratic system has been replaced with justice... When intelligent people are finally free and rule the society instead of the idiocratic rule of majority... In that great day of deliverance, you will know what I want.

Long live the revolution... revolution against the system, which enslaves not only the majority of weak-minded masses but also the small minority of strong-minded and intelligent individuals! If we want to live in a different world, we must act. We must rise against the enslaving, corrupted and totalitarian regimes and overthrow the tyrants, gangsters and the rule of idiocracy. I can't alone change much but hopefully my actions will inspire all the intelligent people of the world and start some sort of revolution against the current systems. The system discriminating naturality and justice, is my enemy. The people living in the world of delusion and supporting this system are my enemies.

I am ready to die for a cause I know is right, just and true... even if I would lose or the battle would be only remembered as evil... I will rather fight and die than live a long and unhappy life.

And remember that this is my war, my ideas and my plans. Don't blame anyone else for my actions than myself. Don't blame my parents or my friends. I told nobody about my plans and I always kept them inside my mind only. Don't blame the movies I see, the music I hear, the games I play or the books I read. No, they had nothing to do with this. This is my war: one man war against humanity, governments and weak-minded masses of the world! No mercy for the scum of the earth! HUMANITY IS OVERRATED! It's time to put NATURAL SELECTION & SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST back on tracks!

Justice renders to everyone his due.

I fail to see how killing others and yourself changes the world, he should of just killed him self that way he can end his apparent miserable life. All he did now was make it all worse, people are weak minded and because of this his message will be interpreted opposite of what he wanted.

He's implying himself as one of those intelligent people, a truly intelligent person wouldn't be so reckless.

Well, we do, but i dont think hes one. Just has funny looking eyes, maybe.

Heres a pic of his father, that someone found: He was apparently some musician in the 80's http://www.kolumbus.fi/pikkulauri/bigpapa_files/image002.jpg

The weird thing is that the media&police are not telling that many details. The hospital have confirmed 7 dead, the police talks about 1, and the Interior Minister says there may be more. And the police doesnt say if they shot the killer, or if he killed himself, or if they actually caught him alive.

FinnJL
11-07-2007, 12:14 PM
Police confirmed 8 dead + the shooter is in critical condition in hospital after shooting himself in the head, and will probably die. 1 of the dead was the principal of the high school, the rest were students. The school was a combined school with grades 7-9(ages 13-15) and a high school(ages 16-18).

For all gunnuts&gunhaters, i can add that the gun the guy had was legal and he was a member of a shooting club.

edit: the police has a press conference atm, and one stupid reporter(woman) asked if the guy shot himself before he shot at the police?

I know this is getting really irrelevant, but the killers parents seem kind of interesting. His mom, Mikaela "Micco" Vuorio, is a local politician(not elected into any office though) and some sort of hippie green weirdo. Here is a pic: http://www.mikaelavuorio.fi/kuvat/Mikaela_Vuorio05p.jpg (yes, that is a woman)

His dad is a guitarist, named "Big Papa" Auvinen. Here is an old pic: http://www.kolumbus.fi/pikkulauri/bigpapa_files/image002.jpg

I dont have any of his moms writings in english and am too lazy to translate, but she seems to be a pacifist, and really anti-violence. I also found this link http://www.mikseri.net/player/player.php?newsession=1&type=1&parameter=199605 Its his dads band, with his mom singing. Some kind of crappy old school blues or something, i dont know as i dont like that kind of music.

Yeah, i know, really relevant stuff!

Probably, even though getting a handgun is really really difficult in Finland. Even though we have a lot of hunting rifles here as hunting is quite popular among the hillbillies in the countryside, handguns is something that is really rare. This guy got it legally though, and he had no criminal record or anything else that would have shown up on his records. He apparently had shooting(the sport) as a hobby and got the gun as he is a member of a shooting club or something.

The media has blamed the regular things like movies, internet, america, atheism etc. and its so weird and disturbing how people can start spouting their shit in times like this just to get their personal agenda across. We've had a center/right wing government for about 9 months now after a long stint of center/left wing governments, and some bitter left wing fuckers are already blaming the new government for this :confuzed: claiming that their "right wing" politics made this guy go over the edge, even though there is no link between this fuckers social-darwinistic/law of the jungle ideas and the ideas of a government supporting a moderate mixed economy. You have to keep in mind that our political landscape is in general so much to the left that even our right wingers would probably be left wing democrats if they were in the US.

Seems sad that people cant just let the people mourn, without trying to make up reasons to the tragedy so that their ideology will profit.

influence is the key word, i'm not saying it motivated him, or anyone else to commit murder, but you don't honestly think he watched those movies and thought "wow, violence is so un-glamorous, this movie is pretty lame, you can solve problems without hurting people"

he, like anyone else who would watch a mildly violent movie, enjoyed it.

Something more about his parents:

I know its really unfair to judge people on the basis on what they write on the internet, but the killers dad(and yes, it is 100% confirmed its him) just posted this on a finnish message board for musicians:

The thread was about a solo-competition for guitarists on the site. Heres the link: http://muusikoiden.net/keskustelu/posts.php?c=38&t=155439 and here is my translation:

Author: BigPapa

I dedicate this solo to my dead 18-year-old son, Pekka-Eric Auvinen, who died 7.11.2007

http://d4.mikseri.net/m/a7c/80008071209/BigPapa%20-%20Sooloskaba105_BigPapa.mp3

May have to pass on these competitions for a while. See you again/later.

The "May have to pass...."-line is a surprisingly casual way to say that in finnish, and it even has a slight humorous/sarcastic tone to it, that probably was lost in translation.

Weird that he took the time, just one day after the thing, to post on a forum about his mourning, when most people are in such rage that they arent ready to see his side of the story just yet. I dont doubt hes mourning, but maybe he should have kept it private for a few weeks. I know the original post was made a day before the shooting, and that he edited it today, but still, a bit insensitive imo.

Nice solo though if you like old-school blues/rock :dunce:

Yeah, Finland used to have the biggest suicide rate per capita, no doubt partly caused by the long, cold and dark winter. Nowadays I think Japan is leading us on this field.
And we don't have capitol punishement in Finland, life imprisonment is the worst you can get.

This incident sucks on so many levels. Let me explain:

I'm a Finn.

Do I feel safe, in what i used to think was one of the safest countries of earth? No. This sort of thing strikes such a terrible blow to the everyday feeling of safety...

From the bottom of my heart, I hope that no-one will see this as admirable, and do the same thing. These events influence people, no matter what. This sort of thing can influence someone to do the same thing... This adds up to the feeling of poor everyday safety that I feel in my homeland now.

The thing is, that it's been said that his biggest influence was the shootings in the US. How will the same incident in your own country influence the thinking of people in similar state of mind...?

I just hope and wish that the government will get to the bottom of this. Make sure nothing like this can every happen again!!

The deepest sympathies to those affected by this terrible event.

Excellent Post!

I have always believed these shooters do this with the understanding it will leave their society feeling unsafe.
They love the idea that safety can no longer be 'taken for granted' and people will be forced to be nervous and scared long after they are gone.
Wondering when the next time might happen.
To these types, its the ultimate revenge... now people will know what they felt like everyday of their lives - scared, intimidated, unsafe.

All the 'social commentary' aside, I join you in deepest sympathies to all those affected.

Just heard, and its confirmed by very very many quite reliable sources, that the shooters mom has commited suicide. It apparently happened in late november, but the source i have gotten this from is really really reliable. So, happy times for the family then. A kids brother first kills 9 people and himself, and after that your mom kills yourself :(

I dont know how usual this is in these kind of situations that the family members do this, but i just cant help but feel sad for the killers remaining family(dad+brother)
