To me, it's a partial disappointment. $50/year gets you access to demos and extra content (for an addional fee). When Live came out I was expecting something similar to gamespy, with tournaments, leagues, and contests. Few games offer dedicated servers, and it seems to be leaning toward an online store vs. a gaming hub. Anyone feel the same way?

i do wish it was free, but it's well organised and easy to use.
dedicated servers would be nice.

I just bought an Xbox. I've got to hook a DSL line back up to my house. I was wondering, can u still play multiplayer games with the silver edition, or is that exclusive to gold?
Also, I'm trying to save money, by getting dsl I can choose between 3 different transfer caps. Does anyone know what kind of transfer rate speeds are necessary to have a low ping? Obviously the faster the better, but obviously a t3 line is overkill whereas 768 Kbps (download)/384 Kbps (upload) is perhaps a little slow?

Silver: You can use it to download content, including demos, and all that stuff.
Gold: You can do everything the silver does, but it also allows you to play online in games.
Pretty shit if you ask me, although I love my 360.

haha your lucky, because its about 13-15 dollars for 3 months, and with it being 5 a month for online play with ALL games is a lot better than wow's 20 a month (damn canadian prices), so i think you will be pleased.
