I have been out of the dirtbike scene for about 10 years (I'm 27). A friend of mine is getting divorced and he had to sell all his shit off. I ended up buying a mint YZ85 with very little use off him for $400. Thought it would be fun to fuck around on, but it's too small.

Anyways, I have been trying to sell this thing for like $1200 and haven't got any bites...do people still buy 2-strokes? All I see is people looking for quads or 4-stroke bikes? Did I miss a fucking memo somewhere?

I would even trade it for a PS3 or something, but I don't think kids even go outside anymore. Just sit around inside playing WOW and whacking off to Mike's Apartment.

Maybe it's just the wrong time to sell here in New England.

I wouldn't think now would be the best time to sell in that area, unless it would be bought as a present. I'd wait until just before it gets warm.

Spring/early summer is the best time of year to sell a motorcycle. Dirt bikes are a little different than selling street bikes (as far as being seasonal).

As far as the price is concerned... I would need to know what year the bike is to give any advice on that. In 2003 the bike had some big changes and went from a 83cc to a real 85cc and of course the older the bike the less it will bring.

I think 1200 is a little too much. Any mods? Pipe? How are the plastics and the treads on the tires. But personally it's too much, you bought it for $400 just start at like 850, unless you have any mods like I asked.

America hit the 4 stroke phase a while ago. Since then 2 strokes have only been declining. The price of your YZ85 doesn't seem high, I've seen play bikes sell for that much. What year is the bike? The biggest problem with selling a bike like that is that it's aimed towards beginners but it's a 2 stroke race bike. 2 strokes aren't very noob friendly and require more skill and concentration so more people switch over to 4 strokes. Depending on the year I wouldn't go under $1k unless it's a pre-'00.
EDIT: Just read the title more clearly, lol. $1200 doesn't seem high at all if is in fact mint.
