I just got home from school and I'm going to EB Games now to get my copy :D
Anyone else? Discuss.
EDIT: Apparently it doesn't come out until tomorrow :| and that bastard "Kipp" at EB Games was like "hahaHaaHa r0Flm4O dat gaem duznt cum owt til tuhmahrow lulul11!"
Looks like I have to wait another day :(

Yea, the date has been mixed between the 13th and 14th. My store won't get it 'till tomorrow either ;_; Guess we'll have to wait. I was intruiged by IGN's review of the game though, they basically said it fucking sucked yet everyone else says it's amazing. I think they're being biased little faggots again, cuz we all know they're completely biased towards Halo.

It seems pretty weak that for a game as well known as this that major game news sources can't even tell us what the correct release date is :err:

Didn't Wal-Mart get it yesterday or somat?

I got it today. My local Gamestop got it in around 6 pm today. I just got done playing it, and I'm pretty impressed. It looks absolutely amazing(by far the best looking game ive played), but i can see how the reviewers said that it was a lot of the same thing. I'm only a few hours into it, but I think what i'm doing now is fun enough to repeat for the other targets as long as there is a little variation.

I got a call from EB like an hour ago. They said it'll be there by tomorrow so I can pick it up after school. Anyone else get lucky and find a copy?

Yeah I don't know why every internet source said it came out today but I knew it came out tomorrow. Anywho I really don't care what IGN or any other game site or magazine says about it. This game looks badass and if I don't like it I shall return it for something better.

Well, every person who has this game already says it's absolutely AMAZING. Some game websites seem to not agree, but I haven't found an individual themself that dislikes it.

EGM was a bit skeptical on the replayability of the game. I recall reading that a lot of it was very tedious to get used to and after you got the controls down, it eventually became a lot of the same thing. But maybe they improved it substantially in the two or so months since that EGM article on it (lol).

I called all around town, not a single store had it in early or broke the street date. So I have to wait to get my copy tomorrow at Gamestop.
The only consistent knocks I've heard on the game in the reviews are that it gets repetitive after awhile and it ends abruptly. Everything else has depended on the reviewer. IGN had problems with the storyline and the ease of the controls, while reviewers like Gamespot and GameInformer loved those things. IGN said the sound was bland, while Gamespot said the audio was arguably better than the graphics.
I'm still stoked for this game, even with a few average reviews in the 7's.

abrupt ending?
Isn't that shit 2 discs?
Man, I was really looking forward to this game, but Gamespy and IGN, which are normally fairly reliable sources imo, really laid into some aspects of it in their reviews. I dunno, I think I might wait a bit for the price to drop, or just rent it first.

Clearly it's not. If it had to be on 2 discs for the 360 version, that would have been a big deal that every reviewer would have pointed out. Since there hasn't been a single mention of that anywhere but here, I'd say it's safe to assume its on 1 disc.

I bought it and played it for about 45 minutes so far. I love it. Id say buy it; it is very unique in gameplay and story. Very much worth it so far.

Yeah this game is pretty much the shit. I have played it for an hour and half now and have not gotten bored at all. Very interesting storyline and plot, the controls are really fun once you get used to it. The first fights you get into are really fun too.

Well, my sister pre-ordered it for her BF, but he lives in Oklahoma
so he told me to keep it for a few days to try out, since he'll be busy
with COD4/school.
~ First impression ~
It kinda pissed me off at first, 'cuz it takes a while 'til you can
really get into any fighting. Once it did, I found the controls slightly
awkward. After about 30 minutes, you get into doing pick-pocketing
adn eaves-dropping and shit, and something inside of me just clicked, and
I realized that this game is truly badass.
The landscape is fuckin' huge from what I've played, and it looks beautiful.
It plays very much like Prince of Persia, except there is even more freedom to
go pretty much wherever and however the fuck you please. The environment
is comparable to Oblivion in size, from what I've played. Saying that, the
horse riding is MUCH smoother, and frame-rate stays consistent. On top of
that, the controls really begin to grow on ya.
PROS
- Great environment
- Very original concept
- You can pretty much climb up on anything
- Stealth kills are satisfying
CONS
- Fighting seems like it could get repetitive
- Limited replay value?
9.4/10

Holy shit this game's main ingredients are epic and win. I played for like 3 hours straight. Kind of an odd storyline (no spoilers lul) but pretty unique too. Incredibly seamless movement from running around and suddenly scaling a big wall to get to the eagle lookout place things. Horsey's are fun too! NPCs are pretty good too and everyone reacts to the shit that happens like if you knock someone with a pot on their head over everyone looks at you and the guards are notified.
I've only completed one assassination officially but I've done a lot of investigation work and exploration of the city. (I'm only in the poor section of Damascus now). Definitely worth the 60 bones and IGN was obviously phailing when they gave it a 7.7:err:
Buy it now!

this game is really awesome... even more because i got it for 39.99
i seriously had no idea what was going on in the beginning, the controls kinda start out really confusing so i accidentally pulled my sword out and raped this guard (i only meant to push him) and like 3 guards hauled ass at me. it was sooo awesome, (since you only have to push like 2 buttons and you automatically climb stuff). i climbed this small house then jumped to another house, all with the guards jumping accross at almost the same speed, and another and finally jumped into one of those secret hiding places. it was one of the best gaming experiences!!
3 hours and i havent even done the first assassination =/

Most of the games up for 'game of the year' at the moment are about 8 hours long, some less: COD4, Bioshock, Halo 3 etc.

Its definitely not 8 hours long. Ive played for more than four and only have two of nine assassinations done :err: and any game sucks if you go as fast as you can to just finish it without any exploration or fun shit. Just buy it you girlymen

take a 30 hour game like Ocarina of Time and dilute it down to a 3 hour game. 100% and everything.
same thing here. some people play faster.

11-16-2007, 07:00 PM
Haha definitely. Still fun as hell though. The controls are hard to master too making it more fun. I never get sick of jumping through the cities and assassinating guards on the rooftops. Good story so far too. I haven't played Orange Box though so I can't compare the two, however this has been a well spent $60 if I may say so myself.

How many Templars have you killed? I've got like 4/60.
JiveTurkey
11-17-2007, 08:51 PM
I thought it was out of 40 Templars? Anyway i killed dos. I have a problem though. I did three assassinations and went back to Al Musayif or whatever his name is and got three more. So i went to Acre and went to the assassins bureau and it said to find the investigations i had to go to one of the eagle view point things but i had already done all 12 in the poor section of town. So now i can't synchronize and find my investigation points. Anyone have any ideas?

It should have opened a small portion of the other sections that you can explore, find the view points in there.
McShady
11-17-2007, 08:55 PM
yeah you have to go into the rich part of town and synchronize
JiveTurkey
11-17-2007, 10:50 PM
But when i went on the map the rich and middle sections were locked so I dont think i can get into them
Mikea08
11-18-2007, 02:04 AM
one of them will still have the blueish haze that you can't go past, but you can get into the other section. None of the look-out points will be marked either. You have to look around until you see the eagle soaring, and then all the towers will be on the map.

i played the game for 11 hours straight, never got bored, and i think i have 2 more assassinations to go, this game is really dependent on how the player plays it when it comes down to time. if you want it to be quick then you can play it a certain way to make it quick, but if you feel like saving all the citizens and getting all the info and the flags, then it can get longer
as for the guy stuck, try going out of the city then back in
might help

I've been playing this game for the past few days a lot. I'm in love with it. One of the best visually looking games I've ever seen. I think I'm on assassination 4 or 5 right now. I was surprised at how easy and fun it is to climb on buildings, jump over crates, and knock people over to evade the guards. Has anyone else been to Jerusalem? Once you enter it from the country side there's like this huge pilgrimage out of the city. There's probably 100 citizens in rows of 2. I just make my horse run straight through all of them and laugh my ass off. Battles kick ass this game. I love the tense pause when fighting a lot of guards before they attack because they are all scared to make a move. If you hit X right before they strike you can do this sweet ass combo move or something. My favorite's when Altair stabs the guy in the foot then pulls the sword out, striking him across the face. Definitely worth a rent, and if you like games like Oblivion or Prince of Persia, it's worth the purchase. I have a feeling the replayability is going to be awful though.

Yeah so I beat the game last night and I have to say I am disappointed with the ending of the game. If anyone is looking for a Templar/Flag map well here it is (http://www.msxbox-world.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9114&pid=70231&st=0&#entry70231). It would of been a more fun game if that added some kinda co-op aspect to it or something.

I got the game thursday, beat at midnight today. Fucking amazing game. It took me a good 16 or 17 hours to beat it. I have yet to get all the flags, and kill the templars. I'm gonna get all the citizens now since I have all the view points, than focus on the achievements I haven't gotten. I'm trying to get the Blade in a crowd achievement. Any help on that, can't seem to have gotten it yet.

The Blade in the crowd achievement is easy to get once you have beaten the game, just go back and replay the first assassination mission. Once he kills the guy in the courtyard just go into blend mode and walk up to him slowly and assassinate him.

Got the achievement a little while after I posted. I went to the city with the first assassination and just made sure to NEVER be caught. Just walked up and assasinated him, no one even knew there was an assassin in the city until he was done =]

Uhh, CoD4 and Halo 3 both have amazing multi-player. I'm still pissed I decided to buy Bioshock instead of rent.
But sure, go and spend $60 on a game that you could just as easily beat/do everything with a $3-$5 rental.
