New Video Card Radeon 2900

I installed Crysis on my new computer (dual core 2.8ghz) and i was footin a nice 6FPS, i figured its time to upgrade its onboard geforce 6150,


So, i just purchased the Radeon 2900 from newegg

Sorry but ATi are loosing it. They dont have the support or tech to keep up with Nvidia.

I was comparing cards in the $150 price range with DX10 support, i needed to get a Geforce 8800 to compare with this card, but they were all priced $180 and above.

The 2900 was recently replaced by the 3800 series recently. Usually buying a generation old high end card isn't a good move, but since the latest generation of video cards aren't much of an improvement over the last, it's not a bad deal. I would have gone with a 3850 for the same price, though.

The 3800 series was out performed by the 2900 series, but the 2900 takes a lot more power, and runs hotter, with less overclock ability, but i wasn't interested in overclocking, or am i mistaken on my facts?

The 3850 isn't far off from competing with the 2900xt, but what you got was the pro version. It's a little cheaper, but slightly slower also. The difference isn't major, though, the 2900pro was still a good deal.

It's an okay card but ATI in general just doesn't have driver support. Hardware is great.. but shitty drivers / not updated.

Well, my card came, installed it and i'm running Crysis at a smooth 50 FPS now, still the lowest settings as i haven't had time to check what i am capable of doing yet. Impressed with the card overall, installed easily and seems nice, but dont have anything to really compare too.

So my oppinion doesn't really matter.

man if you want to run crysis, i had to buy the 8800GT ... and its not a bad ideal to go SLI... and quad core processors with 4gb ram... thats how you will be able to set it to ultra high without lag... but that can possible cost.... 1,000 $ or more...

(other things you need to make that set up work so.... yeah... pc gaming IS expensive)

meh, I don't need ultra high, if it looks decent, i'm happy.

wont even be able to see what i can do with it untill monday though.
