Hi, I recently bought the adaptor for the pc to use my xbox 360 wireless controller on games. All the drivers are working fine and installed properly, I synced the controller up without problem,but when I go into oblivion to configure the controlls it won't let me select the two triggers on the controller for Attack and Block, it even won't let me use the right thumbstick to look around even though it says it! Is there a patch/update to fix this? I'm running it on ultra high graphics at 1680x1050 resolution on Windows Vista Home premium build 32 bit. Any ideas?

Why .. the fuck ... would you play .. an FPS .. with a god damn .... CONSOLE CONTROLLER.

I am so sorry I just raped your thread but god damn dude.. It makes no sense to me. You lose any advantage you might possibly have!!

Anyway. To rant on the 360-- that sucks you have to pay for an adaptor. With the PS3 you can just use it via bluetooth (if your computer has a bluetooth adaptor) or you can plug it in via USB because Sony actually uses standards that are ACCEPTED. They don't make up some gay "Xbox output" for their controllers so you have to buy a god damn MICROSOFT adaptor for everything. jesus.

Because some people don't like playing games with a mouse/kb?

Also, you forgot to put where you drop all console arguments and you retreat back to "Crysis is the best game evar!" strategy.

I could have stopped after you used the word "raped", i wish I had.

Since when was wireless USB NOT an accepted standard? That is all the controllers for the xbox have ever been, usb, or wireless usb. Strip open the cord on an xbox 1 controller and you will see its USB, if you want you can make it work your computer just any other pc controller.

Your ignorance is amazing.

That's kind of a double standard, you know? The Xbox360 wired controller uses USB 2.0, and the wireless connects using a $20 wireless adapter that also recognizes the wireless headset from the 360. IMO, it's better than spending $30 on a cheap 3rd party BlueTooth adapter using unofficial 3rd party drivers to connect a controller to a PC.

But I can see why you would think Microsoft doesn't use accepted connections for both their console and their operating system. I mean, the controller, wireless adapter, camera, and HD-DVD drive do all use the UNIVERSAL serial bus to connect to a computer and recognized WITHOUT having to use any 3rd party anything. Then there is the ability to use your Xbox Live! account for Games for Windows-Live! games to play with or against people on the Xbox360, or talk to them using Live! messenger, or make a cross-platform game with XNA. Yeah, I can see why you would think Microsoft doesn't use any accepted standards between platforms.

I have the adapter and use it for all my roms. its awesome but it took a little to get used to playing donkey kong country 3 on a 360 controller. anyway if I figure out a solution i will let you know, ive tried messing around with it some other "real" games, some it worked fine, others it was a little bit off. their might not be an easy fix.

Because he prefers it. He's probably better at it too.

Your argument is flawed.

well i figured out if i want it to work exactly like the 360 controller i would have to do this...

"-Game Pad Functionality

Although the PC version of Oblivion handles best when played with a keyboard and mouse, it is possible to play the game with an assortment of game pads as well. Due to the variance in these game pads, it may be necessary to make a few changes to the Oblivion.ini file located in My Documents\My Games\Oblivion. Below is a list of the settings that can be changed to make a Xbox 360 controller attached to a PC, function better with Oblivion. It should be noted however, that because the PC version of the game was optimized to play with a keyboard and mouse, the experience will NOT be the same, as using a 360 controller on the Xbox 360 version of the game. Additionally, these settings can be applied to other game pads, but the values represented may need to be tweaked further. Finally, the mapping of the buttons will need to be determined when entering the game, and can be changed in Options - Controls, from the Main Menu - Do NOT map the directional controls (Forward, Backward, Left, Right), as this will overwrite certain changes made in the Oblivion.ini file.

These are the default settings in the Oblivion.ini:
;X = 1, Y = 2, Z = 3, XRot = 4, YRot = 5, ZRot = 6

iJoystickMoveFrontBack=2
iJoystickMoveLeftRight=1
fJoystickMoveFBMult=1.0000
fJoystickMoveLRMult=1.0000
iJoystickLookUpDown=6
iJoystickLookLeftRight=3
fJoystickLookUDMult=0.0020
fJoystickLookLRMult=0.0020

Change to these values to get better functionality from a 360 game pad connected to a PC.
;X = 1, Y = 2, Z = 3, XRot = 4, YRot = 5, ZRot = 6
iJoystickMoveFrontBack=2
iJoystickMoveLeftRight=1
fJoystickMoveFBMult=2.0000
fJoystickMoveLRMult=2.0000
iJoystickLookUpDown=5
iJoystickLookLeftRight=4
fJoystickLookUDMult=0.7500
fJoystickLookLRMult=0.7500

Make sure the settings are saved. Note, changes to the Oblivion.ini file will not be saved if Oblivion is running when the changes are made.

-Updated Oblivion Launcher
The updated launcher now includes options for changing your auto detect settings for Video Quality. The presents are Very Low, Low, Medium, High and Ultra High. If you select Rese"

but i'm not going to mess around with that... i'll just stick to the keyboard..

EDIT: on the gamespot forums they said i could program the keyboard keys to my controller using these programs...
1.ControlMK
2.Pinnacle
3.Xpadder

anyone know these programs?

My ignorance is amazing.

I wasn't aware that the adaptor gave it "wireless" functionality. I figured the controller had a proprietary connector. I have only used a 360 controller 2 times in my life and never looked at the connection.

Sorry. Please excuse me. I was just pissed because UPS misdelivered my package.
