Nevermore

Amazing. Jeff Loomis is among one the greatest guitarists in the
world. Their singer (name escapes me) can fucking wail, too.

Strapping Young Lad

Brutal. Devin Townsend has some pipes. He used to sing with
Steve Vai, and did the whole album "Sex & Religion." Aside from
that, he's also a very accomplished shredder. He is very charismatic
and hilarious live. They're much like Fear Factory, with Machine Gun
riffs following the double bass.

Not really in to either bands a lot, I have listened to them extensively in the past. They do have a bunch of talented musicians. I like Loomis, he can rip up the guitar pretty well. I'm more in to Townsend's solo stuff more than SYL, but he is another one of my favorties when it comes to experimental rock.

I like Nevermore a lot, but I haven't really listened to the other band.

I like Nevermore but I don't like SYL as much. However, Devin Townsend's solo stuff is great.

SYL is great. Devin Townsend has an amazing voice and he can get that scream so high pitched its crazy. Has some pretty funny lyrics and song titles too. I like these guys way better than his solo stuff even though Synchestra is a good album (that the only Devin Townsend Band cd I own).

Nevermore would sound a lot better with death metal vocals, not singing.

Strapping Young Lads sound like they found a way to convert a pile of shit into an audio signal.
