Ok ok, we all know that there can be no other answer than radiohead or the postal service but I have found a lil gem, Ill tell you guys if you give me a gem back. Ill show you mine if you show me yours,
Scientific Lifestyle.
They are outta Cali somewhere, not exactly sure where but there sound is both old and new, a little trip-hopy but all the way indie,
Alright now who is your pick?
It better be good and they better be relatively unknown, as i just gave you a freshie...

you "just gave us a freshie"? Is that supposed to be a positive thing? I hate those type of people that are always out for the newest thing and end up passing around bands like pokemon cards.

It's a bit early for anyone to make a call on that. ;)

And as much as the indie crowd would love to call Radiohead their own, Radiohead really isn't indie rock.

Radiohead isnt indie.

Personally The Arctic Monkeys are my favourite indie band ever.

As for 2008, The Wombats look quite good.

I hate that too.

I also hate the people who think they are incredibly cool, and have much better taste in music, just because "Who/what do I listen to? Oh dude... you probably haven't ever even heard of the bands I listen to."

I got the Vampire Weekend album last night, and I swear to God that it sounds like the Life Aquatic. Some of the keyboard riffs sound like they came right out of the movie!

indie is a marketing term that didn't exist five years ago, unless someone was talking about an artist who put their music out themselves, and it was just an abbreviation of "independent". it's not a sound at all. there are always stupid new terms put on music. remember "alternative"? yeah, same shit, different decade.

radiohead WAS sort of indie for a moment, because they put their new album out on their own, without the aid of a label or anything.

just as punk rock is more of an idea than a sound, so is "indie" music.

that being said, i love me some man man. i saw them a few weeks ago, it was rad. vampire weekend sucks. waaaaay too overhyped.

also, panda bear is worth checking out.
