Kyuss is the precursor to Queens of the Stone Age. They are probably one of the most underrated bands of all time. The only way I can really describe their sound is Black Sabbath + Tool... in a way.

Demon Cleaner + Hurricane are some of my favorite songs from them.
They make great music, but their name is terrible.

They completely destroy QotSA. Welcome to Sky Valley is an undisputed classic
Their name is a bit nerdy, coming from a Greyhawk D&D setting... it could be worse, though, they could have named themselves after something out of the Tolkien universe like roughly half of metaldom

I love Kyuss. Definitely one of my favourite bands ever and superior to QOTSA IMO.
They're basically the embodiment of stoner rock. Groovy thumping basslines which really drive the music, deliciously crunch guitar riffs, nice bluesy leads, bombastic drumming and badass vocals.

One of the ands that got me into much heavier music and I still love them.
My favourite songs are:
50 Million Year Trip (Downside Up)
Phototropic
Gardenia
Welcome to Sky Valley has to be one of my favourite albums ever, but all of their albums (yes, that does include the first one!) are awesome.

i've recently been getting into a lot of kyuss, primus, and tool.
i like it heavy, but not so heavy i can't figure out what the hell is going on, like with some metal bands.
Queens of the Stone Age isn't bad, but they're on a whole different wave of the musical spectrum from Kyuss. I was into QOTSA before Kyuss, but I've been coming to find Kyuss more towards my style.

Kyuss was pretty much the greatest stoner rock band of all time. Next to QOTSA of course.

This band is so fucking good, it constitutes about 75% of what I listen to at the moment. Nobody really sounds like them and they had a pretty short lifespan, so it's particularly frustrating for me. I've listened to all 4 of their albums until I got sick of em, but there's no more. :wah: I tried getting into other stoner rock like Fu Manchu, but those guys are pretty sub-par.
Kyuss is kind of hard to get into at first, but it grows on you. Here are some recommendations:
