Now I know that some of you do not like The Mars Volta, but I also know that some of you do. They just released their 4th studio album The Bedlam in Goliath. I'm listening to it now for the 3rd time because it's so good. It is the perfect album. It has song structure, killer breakdowns, not too long/not too short songs, thoughtful and intriguing choruses, insane solo work for more than just the guitar, some of the finest drumming I've heard in a while, some of the most bone jawing bass work, and the ability for you too think afterwards.

Plain and simple, it's got things for everyone. Omar has finally learned how to do something few musicians can do...appeal to virtually everyone. They utilized nearly every kinda of music in this one. Right now I'm listening to the last half of "Metatron" and I'm literally hearing music nirvana. You like hard rock? They have some rippin' riffs. You like chorus driven ballads? Some of their songs GRIP you. You want gospel drumming and prog rock basslines? Look no further! Want to hear intense breakdowns that make you want to punch a fucking nun? Hello! They have it all.

I understand how people cannot like Frances the Mute and I can understand why Amputechture was a disappointment, but this album is too perfect. Omar is a fucking genius...

You might even get to play a song of their's in GH4. Vivendi recently purchased a controlling stake in Activision and Vivendi's subsidaries have the rights to bands like U2, Guns N' Roses, The Killers, Oasis, Anthrax, Black Sabbath, The Who, and The Mars Volta. :)

Maybe I'll break down...

Great freaking album, the first 5 tracks are so orgasmic. Metatron, Ilyena, Goliath, Wax Simulacara, Ouroboros, Soothsayer, Calavettas, ahh it's awesome! I'd say it's the most accessible next to De-Loused. It sure as hell blows Amputecture and Frances the Mute out of the water. Those were so much, I don't know. Not as straight forward. I didn't think these guys could pull it off.

And may I add Thomas Pridgen (new drummer) fucking rips. Seriously, this guy rocks the house.

Eh, I don't like what I've heard so far, but Frances and De-Loused will always be some of my favorite albums.

Awesome. :boink:

I'm listening to it for the first time right now. I'm only halfway through the first song, but it's still great. :D

After my listen through, it's amazing...Enjoyed much better than Amputechture and it's right up there or better than Frances and De-loused

Metatron, Goliath, Wax Simulacra, and Ourosboros are probably my faves

There's been some really good releases this week with TMV's "Bedlam in Goliath", Vampire Weekend's new self-titled album, and Protest the Hero's "Fortress"
