On the eve of Super Bowl XLII, a published report out of Boston claims that a Patriots employee filmed a Rams' practice prior to beating St. Louis in Super Bowl XXXVI.
A source told the Boston Herald that a member of New England's video department filmed the Rams' final walkthrough before the 2002 game, which the Patriots later won 20-17 on a last-second field goal by Adam Vinatieri.
"The coaches have no knowledge of it," Patriots vice president of media relations Stacey James said when contacted by the Herald.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell also said he had no knowledge of the situation when questioned during his state of the league address on Friday.
"I'm not aware of that," Goodell said, according to the report.
The Patriots were first to have their final walkthrough that day, the report said, and the employee stayed behind to film the Rams. He was never asked to identify himself or produce a press pass, according to the report. The cameraman then rode the media shuttle back to the hotel, the report said.
It is not known what happened with the tape after that point, the report said, nor if the cameraman acted alone or was instructed by the Patriots.
The Patriots were heavy underdogs in the game but still opened up a 14-3 halftime lead against the powerhouse Rams offense. The Rams rallied to tie in the second half before Vinatieri's game-winner.
New England was fined $750,000 and had a first-round draft pick taken away after the league determined the team violated policy by filming the New York Jets' defensive signals during a September game, a saga that has since been dubbed Spygate

Seems like alot of people are really trying to distract the Pats this weekend. Bringing up all this spying shit right before the Super Bowl. Including that old bastard from Pennsylvania who isnt even involved with the NFL so he should just keep his old balls out of it. He is just a disgruntled Eagles fan.

There would be nothing to distract them with if they didn't cheat.

Its not distracting them though. This is just adding fuel to their fire. And they are gonna put up 60 points now.

Pretty soon every team the pats have played in the last 8 years will claim that the pats cheated.
These reports are starting to build up.. and we know what that means..

Whats the reasoning behind waiting 6 years to report it? That is if it actually ever happened...fucking sore losers will look for any excuse to discredit success...You don't hear anyone branding the Chargers cheaters when Merriman was caught using steriods or the Cowboys of the 90's cheaters when Irving was caught using cocaine multiple times...The list goes on.

because it's pretty obvious 90% of the NFL uses steroids/HGH
if all this is true about the Pats there needs to be some asterisks or forfeited games

Hey genius! Do you know what a contradiction is? Because you just contradicted everything this argument is about! Steroids and HGH ARE CHEATING. So if what you said is true then 90% of NFL players are cheaters, which statistically would put more than one of said "cheaters" on each team, therefore, nearly every NFL win by any team in the past 10-20 years should have an asterisk next to it. Which would make them all cheaters...Care to explain yourself?

Every team has cheated its just nobody really knows about it. I read before the rams game the Pats spotted someone in a nearby building with someone using a telescope in the window. Later the person was gone but the telescope was still there. And I heard Don Shula of the 72 dolphpns filmed other teams, he just didnt get caught.

Hey asshole, look up the NFL's list of banned susbstances. If you want to get all techinical, which is what everyone is doing, digging for something to discredit success, then cocaine is in fact cheating. Right up there among many other things.

When did i say it wasnt a banned substance? Last time i checked getting high sometimes doesnt give you a competitive advantage on the field, opposed to HGH (coughrodneycough) or sterioids.

Getting high didn't give Lawrence Taylor a competitive advantage? He was high damn near every game! And he was one of the greatest D-lineman ever. Read his autobiography if you don't believe me.

Because when you have juiced players going against other juiced players it's not really an advantage for either team. And it's pretty obvious the majority of NFL players are juicing.
A coaching staff for one team knowing exactly what to expect from the opposing defense before it happens... that is a tremendous and unfair advantage.

That is one of the most assumed and ridiculous statements I have ever heard on this argument. No one know for sure who is on what and etc. the fact of the matter is all pro sports are dirty and any kind of success comes with hate...but the rings still shine just the same...Whatever. Tell Dungy and Peyton they can shut off their "Crowd Noise" now...but that will go overlooked for lack of success just like Meriman and many other players on known banned substances...

...or it will be overlooked because it was proven untrue. The Patriots have been accused of taping before, but it wasn't a big deal until it was proven.
Harrison was suspended for HGH and no one cares about that anymore either. This spygate thing is much bigger than having juiced players.

If it did happen, which the NFL said it already looked at the situation MONTHS before the media got wind of it, it won't affect them today....
Every team cheats, whether they get caught or not they do. Everyone is always looking for that competitive advantage and will do almost anything to get it.
And if you haven't ever seen anyone on cocaine before....they go nuts....unlimited energy and adrenaline so yeah i'd say if you were on blow that you'd have a competitive advantage

Because they got caught videotaping in the first series of the first quarter of the first game of the year?? I'm sure the other 18 games they won don't mean shit right?

Fuck the Patriot players, coaching staff, and fans.
No wonder they've been doing so well the last couple of years. They hired a cheating piece-of-shit coach.

Playing crowd noise through speakers is the most ridiculous things I've EVER heard. Especially coming from the whiny, bitchy people that make up the Patriots, who need to cheat to win. Good job, Pats. You fucking BLOW and just lost to the fucking GIANTS. I bet you'll be crying about them cheating, too?
