Okay this is going to be short. A 20 year old Canadian decides to play for the dutch. Jonathon De Guzman was born and raised in Canada, has all his family here and friends his whole life is here. But At the age of 14 he moves to the football club feyoonord of holland for 8 months a year. He trains there and shit right and is in there main team today. Last year he drops hints and says is a proud Canadian and his dream is to play with his brother. But 2 weeks ago on national tv he says that his decision was not made to play internationally. But magically today after recieving his dutch passport says he says playing for the Dutch and the decision was made many weeks ago. In conclusion fuck you FIFA for letting the rich countries get away with this bullshit. And fuck you Netherlands for taking one of the best players we ever had. Fuck you Jono De Guzman aka Judas De Guzman. Fuck you OwenWhoregraves who also lied to Canadians. And fuck you England for stealing him:p

No, went to Holland, because he would/does get way more support for his sport. Granted soccer in Canada is growing, but its like :why would you play hockey in Brazil, when you could play it, where there is support, and a base for it in USA or Canada?

Greece's national team is coached by germans and we won the Euro Cup in '04 and qualified for '08 this summer.

Its because its Canada. He is a very talented player (and will become better as he matures) and he has a better chance at World glory with a team like the Netherlands. That being said, I don't agree with De Guzman and FIFA's choices as I would only play for my country of residence (obviously if I was good enough lol). But to each his own, and as long as no laws are broken its fine by me.

Your kidding right? Shit like this happends all the time. Freddy adu is from ghana but plays for the US because he is an American citizen after living there for an amount of years.Its not a special Fifa rule or anything, it applies to all sports.
An england cricketer called Kevin pietersen is orginally south african but plays for england. Deco can play for Brazil but choose Portugul. It doesnt matter where you were born or what country your parents are from, if you've lived in a country for near enought your whole life your gonna feel acustom to their culture.
Hargreaves was born in Canada after his parents moved there from Britain so i dont know what all that shit is about in your post. Don't quote me on this but i swear he is eligble for like 5 nations or something ridiculous.
I went abit off topic but why would De Guzman wanna play for Canada where football isnt their natinal sport and they arent really that good when he can play for holland? Easy question really

Yea it happens all the time the Irish national side is the best. if you have a sixth cousin twice removed that once had a pint of Guinness you can play for Ireland.

It doesn't matter if hes to play for Netherlands the better country the truth is he will never ever really be dutch. Theres dozens of Examples of people that could have played for better countries but instead decided to play for their real country. And Canadians are bitter with Haregreavs because he lied and said hes a proud Canadian and wanted to play for Canada. Once his careers over I hope he doesn't come back here with kids and shit and keeps saying hes a Canadian. He used this country as a stepping stone. The reason why so many people are mad is cause he lied to millions.
