Job posting alludes to "next release" which will aim at "mainstream audiences"

Rumours have surfaced that Microsoft has begun work in earnest on a new, or additional, iteration of its tremendously successful Xbox Live platform.

The wind that's fanning the flames is a job posting on Microsoft's US careers site for the role of a program manager to work in the Xbox department.

What will interest people the most, however, is the wording of the posting:

"Want to be involved in the next release of Xbox? Join the server-backed games team, part of the Xbox Live team that's responsible for creating a completely new way for mainstream audiences to enjoy the Xbox and Live," says the ad.

"We're building the games, the console interface and logic, and the server support for a totally new Live experience. Both the games and the dashboard experience will be deeply paired with dynamic server support to create a compelling, fresh scenario each time.

"We are looking for a passionate games producer to help implement our first generation games that will run in this new environment."

No additional information on the project, or comment on the job ad was available at time of publishing.

O rly? Just got my second Xbox last week - RROD within 3 days. My first lasted 8 months, which I was pretty damn happy with.

when he says they fixed it he means NEW xboxes, not the older original ones, but all the new ones with an HDMI port. So yes they did fix it, its just you are getting your older one that has been "repaired", its not a new one.

If this is true they need to fix a lot. A few things really bother me about xbox live. Or not so much xbox live but the friends list and stuff. It always seems so slow. When i press the guide button it sometimes take a few seconds to pull up the screen and then a few more to go to my friends. I want it to be instant and not feel slow or sluggish. Some games this is worse than others. I know in DOA4 if you open the guide it sometimes causes the game to freeze.

Don't be hatin' on July 05 nigga.

But seriously, they have fixed a lot of the hardware problems. Then again, I've had mine since launch and have had only one problem .. because I put two discs in at the same time.

I have had more RROD problems than anyone, but it does seem like they have their shit together now. (knocks on wood...hopes Xbox #4 which was repaired by MS holds together)
