Try putting a cold washcloth on top of it for about 30 minutes. It'll work again.

That's just my downstairs one, explains the shitty keyboard and subwoofer you can see.
Up here in the bedroom is where it's at. 24" widescreen, Logitech wireless keyboard & mouse, 400 watt sub, beer fridge under the desk.

That exact same thing happened to me after I got mine back. No sooner than I plugged it in and started playing it again did the screen freeze, so I turned it off and turned it back on, and there you had those three fuckin lights again.
I bet you called them and told you that if it happens again, they'll replace it free with all the upgrades. This time they really will fix it so they don't have to replace it. I am glad, however, that I got a free video game and another month free of xbox live.

my 360 died out on me two days ago. i was playing rock band and just as i was about to play "don't fear the reaper", the damn thing died. how ironic. i paused the game to go and get a drink and then when i came back to unpause it everything was frozen. so i turned it off and then back on and there was the red ring of death. i right away called microsoft and they will be sending me another box to mail it off to the repair center.
this time around they're sending me a bigger box then last time. that's right, this is the 2nd time i've had a 360 die on me. the first time all i had to do was send the console minus the hard drive. this time around they want me to send in the console not including the hard drive and the power supply unit or the brick as they also call it. i'm not sure why they want that this time around. i'm expecting the box to arrive by today or tomorrow. hopefully i'll get another one seven days after like last time. i guess it helps that i live only 8 miles away from the repair center. all i'm getting for the fix is one free month of xbox live gold. that's it. i don't really expect a new one. the one the sent me last time, which is the one that died on me two days ago, was an older model than the first one i had.
also for those who plan on getting a 360. i recommend waiting until this fall. microsoft will be released the new and improved 360 where all bugs have already been fixed. at least that's their claim. much like the claim that consoles manufactured in 2007 are now safe.

I got mine back and I have to turn it off and on two or three times before it sends a signal to the fucking tv. I did get one red light the other day, lower right. Whatever

This is just incredible. Personally, I would've kept the console and put it on display up in a shelf nearby and buy a new xbox... Yes, it's worth it, dammit!

My Xbox just got received at the service center today. I can only imagine, with my luck with Microsoft lately, that this is going to happen to me.

i got my shipping box in the afternoon thursday. i right away packed everything and drove to the fedex place just down the street. now what's strange is this....
i live in a crap town called mission. the repair center is 8 miles away in mcallen. but when i just logged on to track it's status it tells me it's in transit but that it left from pharr, tx. what the hell? i shipped it off in mission not pharr. pharr is like 12 miles or so from where i live. how the hell did my 360 get there? package data transmitted to fedex on the 25th at 7:30pm. then i took it to the store here in mission at about 4:30pm and it says it left from pharr at 5:03pm. then it says left origin at 8:58pm. i guess the repair center is getting it overnight. just strange. i'm hoping nothing is getting screwed up and my new 360 arrives within the next week like last time.
as for the guy and his special 360. there's no way in hell that you can remove marker ink like that. sure there were smudges but c'mon you know that someone at the repair center screwed him over by keeping the real one and sending him another one and putting marker smudges on it. all they had to do was switch the serial numbers and all that jazz. easy.

How many 360's have you had Madman?
Mine gets played quite often and only had 3 rings of death for about 10 seconds, been working absolutely positively fine for a year now.
It's starting to get kind of crazy for you it seems.

I'm on my 5th console. I've got a new one back from Microsoft, I tested COD 4 and it worked for about an hour, and I put it back in it's box and it's on my shelf until Gears 2 comes out. I'm just one of the unlucky ones, it's on a clean desk in a well-ventilated room and it just doesn't stop fucking up.
I bought a PS3, it's better, and I'm yet to have any problems.
I only want to play GTA 4 now anyway.

Yeah, I read about that this morning. Pretty horrible. I'm guessing it got stolen to be honest, I can't imagine them intentionally ruining artwork on the cover.
I really hope this console breaking down doesn't happen in the next generation. The great thing about consoles is that they are reliable and easy to use. Microsoft is ruining that. It's appalling to think that their products didn't even work properly from the start. I think the 3 lights(?) of death is the only reason why I wouldn't buy a 360.

LOL yeah, I was waiting for the 65nm Falcon chips to be released back in 2007 and within a week there were already reports of those being RROD'd.

you know M$ isn't going to learn their lesson. they didn't invest enough time to test their product for defects. if i made a new console i would run tests on the thing. it's stupid. you know that next time M$ releases a new console they're going to rush it out to beat the PS4 and the same thing is going to happen again. even so i still like the 360 over the ps3 and i own both. right now that i don't even have the 360 i'm playing the ps2 instead. i just enjoy that old console better. the only thing i seem to use the ps3 for is watching movies.
now according to the fedex tracking system the repai center has recieved the 360 since 12:30pm friday. now here's hoping it gets back to me in one week. i'm getting 360 withdrawels.

My console died last week and sent it in today. I really hope it works when I get it back. Or at least a free game or something if it dies twice.

One of my friends got an RRoD a couple weeks ago and sent in his 360. FedEx knew what it was from the box Microsoft sends you to put it in. It'd be hilarious if that happened to him.

I sent mine in and got it back with no problems. My buddy on the other hand sent his in and got it back but with no DVD drive in it. He just looked up what kind of drive they used and he happened to have one of the same models plugged it in and it worked. He didn't want to send it back again because that was like the 5th time he had to send it back.
Even with its high failure rate its still the best system out in my opinion.

M$ doesn't send back the same console you send them. they just take it and then probably repair them or throw them away if they find they're useless. they get the console you sent them and then they send you another one that works.
i sent mine last thrursday and i'm already getting it back by tuesday. i got a confirmation email telling me that the repair center already sent me a replacement 360. only its still with fedex and probably won't arrive until tuesday or wednesday.
for any of you who have recently sent their 360, have you had to send the power supply as well (the brick)? i ask this cuz the first time i sent mine i only sent the console. this 2nd time i was told to send the console and the power supply. i'm still wondering why?

They only do that if they can't fix yours. I sent mine in and got the exact same serial number and scratches in the plastic back.

My 360 is mint. Not a mark on it, anywhere. I don't want them to send me back some scratch and dent piece of shit, or send mine back with a load of scuffs, scratches, and marks on it.

lol didn't they say that about the elite too.
Around the holidays I was literally at the store and was going to buy a 360 elite, but they didn't have one in the store and could only be bought online. So I went home and pondered, decided not to buy one. It seems I made the right choice. With most of the 360 systems failing, and with the loss of HD-DVD format, I think I would rather have a more reliable system. Since all I really want to play is GTA 4 and MGS 4 as I have a PC that is actually capable of playing modern games (pretty much all the 360 games are on PC) looks like I will be buying a PS3 instead. With bluray, built in wireless internet, reliability looks better right now.
