I don't mean to support another members bid at prem, but I have bought 5 cars in the last 18 months, and having done it both ways, let me tell you, do not settle for a lesser deal based on distance. If you find the car you want and it's all the way across the country, man up for the $400-600 fee (in your case, probably much less) to have it shipped to your door. It's painless for the most part, and you end up with the car you wanted rather than the car you settled for.

My 2005 Audi S4 came from Arizona, and I got my 1987 Buick Grand National from Franklin Park, NY. My Defender came from Huntsville, AL, and while I went and picked the truck up and drove it home, I did buy it sight-unseen.

Don't be scared. Buy the truck you think you can love. Granted, my cars were a bit more particular, and you can probably find the same truck fairly close to home, so you're basically shopping for a deal.
