I was considering getting a 360 Elite, but I need to know one thing before I actually decide to buy it.

I know it comes with a free Silver membership, and a free Gold membership for one month. But, do you HAVE to have the gold to play games online against other people, or can you do that with the silver? I'm going to be playing COD4 on it, and I want to be able to play against my friends and other people. If it do have to have the gold to do that, how much is it per month?

depends on your payment options, you can choose monthly payments, or yearly, or you can just buy a card for 12 months etc etc.
a 13 month card (basically 12 month with 1 month free) is about 49.95 USD
