Planning on buying a PS3

I really want a PS3 just so I can play MGS4. Are there any other games I should be checking out too? Also, is the PS3 backwards compatible? I already own a 360 so don't tell me to buy that instead. What are the pros and cons of the PS3 too?

The 40gb for some off reason doesn't play PS2 games, but does play PS1 games. Those crazy Japanese fuckers. On the plus side it's silent, reliable and sexy looking. A little short on good exclusives for now, but in the near future I think we'll have a sweet enough selection of games. When Microsoft aren't repairing my 360, I barely play it, so you should be pretty set with a PS3.

Buy it. Check out Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and the new Killzone game. Also, now that Blu-ray has won the format war, that will come in handy.

I have them both. just bought my ps3 not too long ago and already i love it. better than 360.

If you don't already have it for 360, get Call of Duty 4. Also, look into Uncharted, Resistance, and Ratchet and Clank (if you like platformers). I'd suggest renting Heavenly Sword (because its really short) and Unreal Tournament 3.

i'll say this everytime, who the fuck wants to take turns hitting each other? the graphics look great, probably has a good story, its just that the gameplay fucks it so hard in the ass... as far as turn based goes, runescape is as low as i go... and it wasn't really turn based really...

Same here. MGS4 was the deciding factor for the PS3, not to mention the free internet service. Along with the new MGO! I cant wait!! Plus im gonna get COD4

LittleBigPlanet might look stupid at first, but take a look at some videos of it. The concept looks fun.

Tekken 5 is a good one that's on both PS2 and 3. And then Tekken 6 is coming out this year. Street Fighter IV might be another possibility, but I don't remember whether or not it was exclusive to anything.

I doubt they're going to make it full-blown turn-based. They know they won't appeal to everyone with that kind of gameplay anymore. I'd expect something in between an active battle system and turn-based for it. Final Fantasy X-2's active battle system comes to mind as one possibility that wasn't bad at all. FF XII had a real time battle system, so we know they've been experimenting with more active systems and they've worked great.

But if you don't care for turn-based at all, then wait for FF XIII Versus. It's made by the Kingdom Hearts guy and it'll be real time fighting.

edit: I was right. Neither of them will be completely turn-based.

Its a third person shooter with airplanes. Theres no campaign, its all online.
Personally, its not my kind of game. I have it, but I never play it.
