View Full Version : Scrape/dent on the outside of my car...

So I have a 2002 Honda Civic sedan, and sometime last week my cousin was getting into the passenger side when he told me, "Something's fucked up with your door, man." I go around and look to see what he's talking about, and lo and behold, the passenger side door "pops" when you open it. Not only that, but it doesn't shut properly, so if you want to close it all the way you have to slam it.

I look around trying to figure out wtf is the problem, and there's a big fucking scrape/dent at the bottom of the door, a scrape that bent the bottom portion of the frame, causing the door to be fucked up. I don't know where it came from, nor how long it's been there (barely anyone rides in my car). I don't really give a shit about the scrape itself or how it looks, I just care that my door is fucked up because of it. My cousin was telling me I could get a rubber mallet and just flatten it out so the door will be fine, so I was just wondering if that is a possible solution?

I'll post pictures tomorrow so it's clear what I'm talking about.

If you don't care how it looks, I'd just start messing with it until it fits properly, using the hammer, of course.

I doubt a rubber mallet is going to move it, rockers are really tough. I'd probably reach for a nice heavy dead blow hammer.

Ok, thanks guys. If I get a chance I'll post pictures. What I really want to know is wtf happened, because the scrape is isolated in one spot. I'm 99% sure I haven't hit anything, so where could it have come from to be isolated in a spot so low on my car?
