A friend of the family had signed up for one of those 'win a blah blah blah for signing up!' and won himself a Geforce 8600 GTS. Luckily, Being old and boring, he gave it to me as a gift, and now I own a 8600 GTS, I'm so lucky, right now I don't have the cash to get myself a snickers bar.

Although first I have to get myself a PCI Express motherboard, shame because I was dual core, although wasn't any good with my 6400GT.

But yeah

pfff...8600? Can it even play Doom III?

And Crysis at 1440x900 everything on medium @ an average of 29 FPS.
Combined with an AMD X2 6000..not a bad card at all..
The new 9600's will be 4x better and only 30 more...but then again, for 30 more on top of that, you can get an 8800GT, so yeah.
