Amid speculation that Sony could be moving to a single SKU world by discontinuing the 80GB version of its PlayStation 3 console (thus axing PS3 backwards compatibility altogether), the company has come out to dispel those rumors with a new 80GB PS3 bundle that will include the highly-anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

In addition to the game and system, the bundle will include a DualShock 3 controller which will bring back vibration force feedback to the PlayStation 3 controller. The bundle will be available in April and will retail for $499 – considering the 40GB model currently sells for $399 and Blu-ray's victory, that’s a pretty good deal.

As this comes with the DualShock 3, it looks like the best bundle to buy. Yeah it has zero backwards compatibility, but who doesn't already have a PS2?

the 80 gig has software backwards compatibility. Either way, Ive been holding off on this purchase, but this bundle could do it for me.

Wow, it's like they read my mind o.O; Exactly what I want, it's perfect. 80 gigs, dualshock 3, and MGS4. Looks like I need that job ASAP

I might just buy this. It sounds like the best bundle yet, especially with backwards compatibility. I'm not sure how much time my PS2 has left.

I'm glad I have the 60gb model and a white DS3, which makes up for the fact that I'll be missing this awesome deal.

Well, Blu-Ray has won. But they seriously need to drop the prices. It's still way too much money to shell out for a player, and then the disks on top of that. They should offer barebones blu-ray players, like the $40 DVD players and shit.

quit being such a fanboy, i hated it too long ago, but when my friend purchased one at the mall and we played it for hours on end, you'll think twice, its a great system that can only get better....

and your hearing this from a 360 owner.

but anyway i was planning on buying the 80gb over the summer hoping for that 100$ price drop, but if their going to pack mgs4, i might just take the dive, although i don't know how the gameplay is for that game, can anyone tel me what the style is?

You think they would do it if they could ... Sony isn't the only Blu-Ray player maker ... there is a massive competition between Sony and multiple other hardware developers to come out with the cheapest and best Blu-Ray player.
