Ok I was a big fan of Ron Paul. I have supported him for a long time. Now We all know that there is not even a 1% chance that he could get elected for the final two running candidates.

WHY IN THE FUCK DOES HE STILL HAVE HIS DONATIONS GOING ON HIS WEBSITE??? I AM STARTING TO THINK THE ONLY REASON HE MAY HAVE BEEN RUNNING WAS TO MAKE MONEY. READ HIS NEWEST BLOG. DATED (2/26/08). ASKING FOR DONATIONS. STFU YOU LOST. STOP ASKING US AMERICANS FOR MONEY.

"A substantial minority of Americans in all parties, not to speak of Independents, agree with you and me. Until November and beyond, I want to work to turn that minority into a majority, with your help. https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/"

Who the fuck gets it then? BULL SHIT. He can use it how ever he wants. Makes me mad. Don't ask for donations from people to help when there is no more chance for you. Sounds to me like he is milking the donations as much as possible.

That was his reason. Just to make money. I was a big Pro Ron Paul. Told everyone about him. His last few blog messages have made me sick of him though.

He is using that money to simply get his message out to more people. OP is another clueless asshole.

Edit: He is so much of a thief that he returns portions of his congressional earnings each year as well.

He lost. NO chance for him no more. It will be Obama or Hillary and McCain in the end. I don't see him much. I don't see what he did with the millions he made from people.

I just find it weird he is still asking for money when there is 0% chance for him.

So basically, you didn't support Paul on his ideas but rather his electability? I thought Ron Paul supporters weren't sheep.

if i'm not mistaken, he's really concentrating more on his reelection to the house of representatives than he is on the presidential race, and that's what he's asking donations for right now. since he's actually woken a lot of people up to his ideas (a success in his mind, and i agree), there is a very big push from washington to try to get someone else elected in his district. washington hates him for the most part because he makes them look like idiots. he's going to need lots of cash to win his district election.

Just wondering, but if a candidate can't keep it, what happens with donations that went unused?

Most of it is used to cover debts and bills but they can donate an unlimited amount to a charity or political party. They can also donate $2300 to any other candidate of their choosing. The main rule though is no personal use.

Can he donate it to campaign-funds for his reelection bid for congress (or whatever it is he'll want to get reelected as)?

Whatever, dootyhead.

...who here knows about campaign finance law and can answer this question: Since he ran a campaign without debt, is it possible for him to transfer the presidential election funds to his congressional race?

Dootyheads.

Yes, but I'm almost positive he can't use any money that was donated to his presidential campaign for his HoR campaign.

To the OP: People are donating because they stand behind the ideas, not because Ron Paul is going to be elected. His ideas are so simple and brilliant yet most of America doesn't realize it. Don't donate to a campaign because you think the guy is going to win, it's not a horse race where you bet on what horse will win.

Nope, Presidential campaign money cannot be used to fund a congressional campaign. Which is why Paul had to raise 400k for his congressional run despite that fact that he has millions in donations for his presidential campaign.

I would presume that his Presidential campaign could donate the maximum of $2300 per month to his congressional campaign, but that would be it.

He is going to use as much of it as he can responsibly by the end of the race just to spread the message.

Whatever is left at the end will go towards a new PAC or a foundation dedicated to spreading that same message and supporting like minded candidates.

It's a shame that, if it's as some people have said, that a lot of people in Washington are trying to stop him being re-elected. They should realise that intelligent opposition can only serve to improve government.

If the OP is that lazy to do 1 minute of research before making a thread like this, I am glad he is no longer a Ron Paul supporter.

I was under the impression that those money bombs were organized by Ron Paul supporters not by the candidate themselves.

Umm... they don't care about improving government. They only care about taking money from the public and giving it to their friends.

Ron Paul could still use the money to spread the message of small government, non-intervention and civil liberties across. If you vote a candidate base on how likely he is to win, then you are not getting the basis of democracy. You elect somebody that represents your political views the best, not on who can win. I will be doing a write-in for Ron Paul as I cannot stand the snake oil salesman the GOP put across called McCain.

Either way, Ron Paul cannot keep the campaign money when the election is over, and he can't use it for his congressional campaign either. Most likely he will donate it to charity.

We would be LUCKY to have Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee as our next president. We would be DAMN LUCKY.

Too bad it isn't gonna happen... we've only got a choice between three liberals now: Billary, Osama, and of course John McCain.

Oops, did I just call McCain a liberal? My bad. Must've slipped.
