Were any of those ever anything more than limited production (other than the Esperante, which sucks but is still pretty neat since I rarely see them)?

How about posting some awesome cars that were actually sold for a while, but people have forgotten about. I'll try:

Sheepsoup, I get the feeling that you like black cars. What about deep blue cars? Or maybe deep green cars...

The Omni, WE-4, and the LM002 are awesome. I think I actually prefer the looks of the LM002 to the Defenders.

If I'm going to spend money on a car, it's going to be black. My little camry is gold, and that's fine because I didn't buy it to look at it, but nothing cleans up better than Black!

The LM002 was a sweet ride (and will be worth a TON of money in the near future), but I don't think it looks as good as a D90 or a D110. Maybe the 130's. I'd love to have one though. They'll pull 130 mph in the sand without breaking a sweat.

For comparison:

I actually know someone with a steel '47 Fiat body, near mint condition, only missing an engine and trans. He is cutting it up and putting it on a 60's funny car chassis with either a big block Chevy or a 392 Hemi.

I feel ashamed now.:wah:Yeah, I think they started calling them the Yenko Deuce in '70, which to my knowledge are all LT1 cars. The '69s were Yenko SC Nova's and could have been big block cars. Though, the 360hp LT1 is scary enough in something that small with a M21 4-speed and 4.10 posi.

In 1990, Chrysler released their Dodge Daytona IROC RT concept vehicle onto the auto show circuit. Although the concept was not exactly the same as the Daytona that would be sold to the public, many of the design elements of the concept would appear on the 1992-1993 Daytonas, such as the fixed headlights, rounded, one-piece taillamps, the cross-hair grill, and the more fully integrated side ground effects. Under the hood was a single overhead cam, turbocharged, VNT 2.2 liter inline-4 cylinder. The variable nozzle turbo (VNT) engine provided full turbo boost in only 2.2 seconds. The claimed performance was 0-60 in 6.1 seconds, with a top speed of 140 mph. The suspension was independent in front, with a trailing-arm in back. The tires were P275/40VR17 Goodyear Experimentals on 17 X 9.5-inch cast aluminum wheels. Two design elements that were on this concept car that never made it into the production vehicles was the all glass roof, and the all-wheel drive system.

I've often felt that this concept looks a lot like the Dodge Stealth, especially from the rear. A lot of people have wondered where this car ended up, no one seems to know. It would be a hell of a vehicle to get ahold of in my opinion. The last generation Daytona had the best interior of any 80 to 95 model Dodge vehicle. That combined with the AWD and VNT turbo engine, woo, nice.

Anyway why is everyone posting cars that we all know about, but might have been out of production for a while?

My contribution for today is another Peugeot 205 homologation. Yes i have a soft spot for 205's and this is an interesting read for rally lovers.

205 Rallye.

the 205 Rallye 1.3, that came in 1987 like the 1.9, literally was a piss take! Peugeot wanted to show that group A as it was was an unfortunate top rally category. For the lowest, up to 1300cc, categories A5 & N1 they developed a 205 minus all gimmicks, super light and an engine that would have exactly 1299.9cc and with 4 huge carburettors it would deliver 100BHP already in road trim, just 30BHP down on the 1.9. The exact minimum number had been produced. This was like in the group B days a homologation special, only that the minimum production number had been increased from 200 to 5,000 units. Clearly it was created to show off the FIA and their new rules, the car obviously cost much less than any bigger category homologation special, but why else would you create a homologation special for the class least likely to deliver overall results? Not surprisingly this car stayed a class winner for more than a decade, and it did so in such stunning way that it only stopped dominating when the FIA increased the max displacement from 1300cc to 1400cc!

http://www.asarus.com/205rallye/205r1.jpg

Laugh now, but in the right hands (laugh more) these little things eat up corners faster than a thai lady boy. So many road and rally versions have been wrote off because of their a bit unpredictable on the limit that prices of the Rallye 205's are appreciating constantly as are most of the performance 205's.
