I've never really played an instrument... but I've been thinking about using the money I was about to buy a PS3 with and instead buy a theremin and amp.

I've always thought it'd be cool to play an instrument and the theremin seems to be the only one that really sticks out as interesting to me.

Has anyone here ever played one? I'd be interested to hear about it, if so...

theremins are interesting instruments, i considered buying one from an ad on myspace once.

i would definitely suggest listening to clara rockmore, it is positively haunting. sounds like a human voice.

Buy one. Practice hard. Scare the piss out of kids during Halloween...
From the video on there it sounds like those old 50's creepy alien movies. I like.

There's an Australian band called The Night Terrors which has a theremin in it, it's kinda cool for a gimmick but it's not the greatest 'instrument'.

I'd still like to hear the impressions of someone who's actually used one, at one point or another.

Anyone?

I emailed the guy who made that vid, Thomas Grillo.

Told me he practices playing theremin for roughly 10 hours a day.
