I rarely buy games. Like 1 every 2 years and I already preordered it.

I mainly preordered it so I don't go crazy at work wondering if I can pick it up after 5 PM... didn't want to keep thinking "Will it be in stock!?"

Actually, I wouldn't blame anybody for wanting to get it for 360 instead. They're getting exclusive DLC. Rumor has it that it's only time exclusive though, so hopefully the PS3 will eventually get the same stuff.

I bought a 360 for GTA b/c I wanted to play it and the 360 was cheaper at the moment. It also has more games that I like. I also have a preference for Microsoft's consoles over Sony's. Both are good consoles though and I want to buy a PS3 when the next price drop occurs.

Yeah, but unfortunately LucasArts needs to prove their hype. They have done far to many terrible Star Wars games recently.

Yeah, there is online play. 16 different fucking modes with up to 18 players.

I probably would have, if not for Soul Calibur IV. I know there's a noteworthy number of anti-halo people on this site, but even still the game certainly deserves to be on the list. Ensemble has done a great job with the RTS genre, and the videos they've released of the game look fantastic.

You have to be weary of RTS franchises based off of FPS games. Halo Wars probably will be eye candy. Even so, you're right, SC2 will wipe the floor with it. Even if all the copies in America spontaneously explode, Korea will eat it up like it's a fucking Chihuahua.

You have to be weary of RTS franchises based off of FPS games. Halo Wars probably will be eye candy.

Not exactly a major point, but it's worth noting that Halo actually started out as an RTS. Sure, there's a chance it could just be all looks and suck ass, but it's still being produced by a developer who has had great track record with the RTS genre.
I'd be lying if I said my interest in the game wasn't at all influenced by my love of the Halo franchise...but everything I've seen thus far still looks damned good.

yeah, that'd be sweet. I don't have a 360 but I played a little bit of Mass Effect at one of my friend's houses and it was really cool. So I'm looking forward to this summer in terms of games. I'll still have Assassin's Creed to play (because I won't get around to getting it for a while, I have way to many tests too soon to get new games). So I'll have a bunch of stuff to play over the summer.

I think he was just saying that's why he got a system in general, and it just so happened to be a 360. Besides if you're getting it for one game, why not get the one that is/was cheaper? Don't even get me started on the downloadable content, free stuff you get when pre-ordering for the 360, and the fact that the LIVE! network ill be better with a more active community. Yes, it has online play, and a lot of online play at that. The game has one of the most in depth and time consuming 1 player modes in games, so if you CAN get through it, you can either have fun in the massive sandbox environment or you can take it online with at least 15 multi-player modes. Trust me, it will be a huge online game.

I know where you're coming from, but Bioware actually puts forth a serious effort on their PC ports. I played KOTOR on the PC first and if I hadn't known I would have never guessed it was originally a console game.

Well just to let you know, it's short. And I mean that as in you can finish the main storyline and a plethora of sidequests in just over 10 hours short. It's what really held the game back from being really good.

OK, I'll take it back. MOST sequels are the same game with updated graphics, a new/continued story and maybe some new features. But out of those, GTA and MGS are among the best, along with Resident Evil, Zelda, Mario, God of War and more.

At least this is something I can agree with you on. There is no way Gears of War 2 is outselling Halo 3, even though it probably will be a better game.

MGS sequels are games the continue the story line, put in new physics/features, and some other shit like that. You'd see where I'm coming from if you thoroughly played the games. :)

Agreed. The MGS games are just about the only games I play more for the story than I do for the gameplay. Not that the gameplay isn't good, it's still one of the funnest games out there, (Definitely the funnest in the stealth genre) but the story is what is making MGS 4 my most anticipated game of 2008, even though I know I'll end up playing GTA 4, and possibly others on the list, a lot more than I will MGS 4.

Well just to let you know, it's short. And I mean that as in you can finish the main storyline and a plethora of sidequests in just over 10 hours short. It's what really held the game back from being really good.
If the mod community is half as good to this game as it was to KOTOR though then Mass Effect could trully become an exceptional game.
just because you can finish it in 10 hours doesn't mean you will, lol. most people i know who played it (and liked it, didn't rush through) took nearly double that :D there's enough extraenous gameplay to flesh it out, for sure
I hated DE2. I'm just saying it was totally different. Lol, Alex Denton. It just didn't have the same "POW" that JC did.

..speaking of short games.. god that game sucked balls. it'd be awesome if someone updated the original using a modern game engine

Don't take this personally, but I don't believe you. I didn't rush that game even the slightest bit, and unless I missed something, that "extraenous gameplay" more or less amounts to carbon copy sidequests that give new meaning to the term "tacked on".
I didn't get a 100% on my first run, but I still finished the majority of the main character subplots and a number of sidequests. Not to mention I feel like I spent half that game time either A) Trying to figure out my way around the Citadel, or B) waiting in those god forsaken elevators.
Sorry for the rant...but Mass Effect was my single biggest dissapointment of the year gaming wise. I actually put that game ahead of Halo 3 for game of the year prediction...which for me is saying a hell of a lot.

i don't know, me and others had a lot of fun exploring the planets etc and ended up close to the 20 hour mark when finished without feeling like we'd been faffing about too much (didn't finish all the sidequests either).
i actually liked it about the same amount as halo, but to be fair halo was kind of conflicting...i liked that it had the same core gameplay but at the same time was disappointed at the lack of new things?
