Since i'm tired to death of MMORPG's i've decided to get fear because i need a new game to play and i fancy something scary. I couldn't even finish Doom 3 because after playing for about 30 minutes i got too creeped out to continue.

So how does FEAR compare to Doom 3 in the scaryness factor?

Share your experiences please and thankyou. :ohnoes:

I thought FEAR was a MUCH scarier game than Doom 3 and a better game overall. The way that Doom 3 scares you is by having monsters and demons jump at you. In FEAR, you're constantly being played with. You'll see a shadow of someone run behind you and when you turn around no one's there. The radio static will tell when there is a "presence" of something. FEAR is like Silent Hill + an FPS game.

Get Battletoads.

Lul. Seriously, S.T.A.L.K.E.R is a great game, has some creepy moments that will make you piss your panties and run for daddy. (Sorry.)

Fuck STALKER, it's a giant piece of crap, I've never experienced something so buggy.

FEAR and expansions is the way to go, put some ear phones on, in the dark, and let the playing commence. You will at the very least tinkle yourself once.

The first two levels or so of Doom are brilliantly done and are, I think, much much scarier than Fear ever is. If you keep playing then you'll find that the game gets fairly monotonous and they don't even try to dress up the encounters after a while. A few enemies will spawn, and then you'll have to blow them up.

The overall game of Fear is scarrier, but the horror sections are usually clearly seperated from the shooting sections...so they lack any real punch I think. I haven't played the expansions though.

F.E.A.R doesn't cheap you into scares, it just gets alittle under your skin.

That been said the gameplay in F.E.A.R (gun control, ai, particle, slow mo) is supieror to Doom 3's simple point and shoot.

I played probably about half way through FEAR's campaign before I got bored.

A couple of times I was startled in FEAR not once in Doom3. FEAR is also less linear than Doom3

After you patch it fully, it runs beautifully. Plus the carry mod helps.

Yeah I hear, I'm sure STALKER is good but I never was able to get it to run right even with my computer exceeding all requirements by a decent margin. Just an overall bad experience with the product.

FEAR is such a great FPS. As far as comparing it to Doom 3 in terms of scariness i'd say FEAR does a better job using the environment and atmosphere of the game to scare you, rather than have enemies pop out at you and give you a cheap scare like in Doom 3.

In Doom 3 I have to admit that having enemies pop out at you all the time (sometimes popping out in very bizarre places) gets annoying fast, and made me not enjoy the game as much as I wanted to.

Overall I thought the story, physics, enemies and especially the weapons were better than in Doom 3. The graphics are also better than Doom 3, but graphics aren't everything right? It's definitely a must-play game for any FPS fan.

F.E.A.R. rox-DOOM3 got to be the same lame crap over & over. I wouldn't call either one "scary" , its a fukin video game, you hit pause & go get anothe beer.

F.E.A.R had me on edge quite a bit ("on edge" translates to scared shitless).

F.E.A.R was a great game, but I didn't much care for the campaign / think it was too scary. Online was fun as shit though.
