Okay, I've never been a real fan of Star Wars, so I'm a Star Wars noob, but I've recently got a sudden urge to watch all the Star Wars episodes. I'm really confused. Which episodes should I watch first, last, etc.

Hmmm.. I would say start at episode 4.

Watch episodes 4-6, then stop.

There are some really good fanedits of the prequels online that trim a lot of fat and unnecessary crap that weighs episodes 1 and 2 down, although episode 3 is pretty good as it is.
I would recommend, assuming you own the original movies of course, finding the torrents from a guy called Magnolia fan. His are probably the best. If you're willing to spend the time doing that then start at episode 1. If not, then you should probably start at 4.

I'm gonna say it right now. In about 4 years George Lucas is gonna announce that he's thinking about continuing the Star Wars series. In the next 10 he'll have released episode 7-9.

So you're telling me 1-3 are the prequels to 4-6?

Nah, I don't think so. Right now he's too concerned with the live action series and using the franchise to promote other mediums. If he's still feeling up to it in 10 years then maybe we'll see more Star Wars movies, but I don't think they'll be episodes 7, 8, and 9.

Yeah. Basically he charted out a barebones outline of the Star Wars saga some 30+ years ago and realized it was impossible to make into one movie, so he split it into parts. Then he decided focus in the middle of the story that he outlined where the serious conflict was and went forward from there. Then 20 years later he went back and did 1-3, to decidedly mixed reactions.

I actually do kind of like 1 and 2, but they do have serious problems (which Magnoliafan has adressed for the most part).

Thanks, man. I'm fucking pumped to watch all of the episodes.

lol I knew that was gonna happen.

I would say there is no right or wrong answer in what order you decide to watch them. 4-6,1-3 is obviously the order of release, and probably what I would recommend. But watching them in order 1-6, is not bad either.

There are pros and cons for each way.

He'll probably be dead in 10 years.

x2. Episodes 1-3 contradict events in 4-6, and completely disregard all canonical storylines. Plus Lucas tried to use characters that had no business being in the prequels.

Boba Fett, C-3PO, R2D2, Chewy, etc. should never have been in the prequels, and were added because of their popularity. Completely ruined the believability.

In 1-3 all we saw was really the child version of boba fett. His father played the main character in that story arc. I was happy to see the droids in the prequals. I can understand why some wouldnt though. Wookies have life spans of about 600 years. I dont see the harm in having him in prequals. jar jar should not have been in the movies at all.

I do agree though, that the movies could have easily been done in 2 instead of 3.

And dont count out 7-9, the scripts are done, they just have to make them. How cool would it be to see some original actors like han solo?

My point is that the Star Wars universe is massive, and the probability of the droids or Boba Fett having anything to do with prior events is just astronomically low.

It was the will of the force. Nuff said.

^^^^^ uhhh, didn't Anakin build the droids?

Not both, he only built C-3P0. And I would like to add that while I don't mind the idea of Anakin building one of the droids, I think it would have made more sense if he had built R2. Anakin liked to build things so an astromech droid would have suited his needs perfectly. What use would he have for a protocol droid? Conversely, Padme would have had many.

It's definitely a good idea to watch Episodes 4-6 First. Now if you just wanna see the good ones stop there. But if you want to watch all of them, then watch 1-3 after you watch 4-6. Have fun spending a whole day watching Star Wars!

I hate saying "episodes 4-6." Those are not episodes. They are "A New Hope." "Empire Strikes Back," and "Return of the Jedi." I refuse to put the new ones before the originals.

Hilariously true.
