if i didnt suck at realistic/ driving simulators, i would buy that. Unfortunately im only good at Need for speed underground2 where you can bounce off walls to help corner.

It looks kinda boring. It just has nice graphics. If you want realistic driving then go drive a car.

I was at Blockbuster the other day and saw this for $39.99 when it comes out.

I thought it was a misprint, but apparently it's legit. A hyped up new release for that price? Must include like 10 cars and 2 courses if that's the case.

Real professional race drivers practice the track on gran turismo to get their speed and corners down before hitting the real thing. If you like driving in general, you will love this game. As soon as you start tuning the shit out of your car, and buying the fastest ones in the game, it gets really fun. The short climb to reach the good cars just gets you accustomed with the tracks before running out in a 600hp ferrari, without this learning curve, you would expect yourself to spin the fuck out goin 120mph around a 70 degree turn. Why not learn how to play before playing, its not simply gas and brake...

70 cars, 17 tracks. The prologue is simply the precursor to the actual game, to tide people's appetite over. To give you an idea of what a gran turismo game is...
742 cars in gt4 (last gt) (http://z-o-g.org/gt4cars/)
Expect this one to be bigger, and better.

GT5 is still going to suck. They didn't address two major issues - car damage and the shitty AI.

There is still no car damage, you see him bump the lead car in the video. The best way to pass that lead car would be to sideswipe it in the middle of a turn and let him push you, but that would make for a bad video wouldn't it?

Also the AI is still driving in single file. It's like a funeral procession rather than a race.

This is exactly how it's been in GT1 and GT2 and GT3 and GT4.

As much as I'd like to get this game when Prologue comes out tomorrow, I don't want to shell out $40 for a half baked demo.

Yeah I have to agree about those two big issues. I just can't believe that they don't have it with the new system.

If you get bumped like that in Forza, your car would be starting to spin with some fender damage. I still think Forza is still the best racing Sim to play right now. There are just way too many options to keep the game exciting. Only downfall is the crappy online players who just like to crash into you instead of racing.

I'm not crazy with their new incar view either....i'v already seen it before in TDU so its nothing new and exciting.

this game sucked. i hired it and its just shitty. yes good graphics and thats it, the rest of the game is boring. you cant really do your cars up . you can tune them after you nearly finish the game. plus there are not many cars in the game

Damage to be successfully implemented is a hard thing. You'd have to get all the physics right and not be able to go on after hitting a wall at 70mph. There was a rumor they are working it into the final build, but even if they do get it, I'm guessing people will complain about it being too realistic. Also who cares about bad AI when you have online.

realistic? lol this and forza are arcade-sims, haha.
GT5 needs better AI, needs damage, needs better driving physics (or just a good wheel perhaps?), needs a better modifying system (or will the interior view cock that up).

sure looks pretty though.

It is supposed to have damage in the final version. It better. Or I'll be pissed and still buy it, because I like browsing through the cars. GT4 might have lacked in the physics aspect, but it sure as hell was nice with the selection of cars. That's all I really want. A shitload of cars. Hell, I'd be satisfied if the game was basically a museum of cars with no racing.

The DMC-12 and GNX in 4 made me erect the first time I spotted them.

Knowing Gran Turismo, if they were to implement damage, it would be too realistic and people would get pissed. I can see it now, somebody lightly hitting a wall on a corner on the last lap of a long race and it damages their front axle rendering them unable to finish the race.

isn't there usually an 'arcade' mode(not that GT ever needed it, har har), or an option to turn it off?

There's an arcade mode and a career simulation mode where you buy cars and shit. The arcade one just has the typical 1 or 2 player races. The career is a lot more interesting once you get into it, if not for the racing, just for getting the money and buying cars and upgrades to them.

F-Zero GX is still the best racing game to date.

Who wants realism?

No, the best racing game ever was in fact Rock N Roll Racing for Genesis. I still play it to this day.

F-Zero was great, though.

I was a huge, huge, huge GT fanboy. After I picked up GT3 for the PS2 my adoration started to fade away. Then I found Forza for Xbox, made it to the number 1 spot on Xlive and held it for about a month. Then I made the mistake of racing with some random low ranked guy and had him rear end me into a wall and viola, got shot down to like, 500+ in rank. Kinda gave up after that. It sucked being high ranked anyway. You could only race with people around your rating...otherwise...you could get ...blah blah blah blah blah,.

EVO_9MR

they're planning on adding damage in an update. I'd rather they not implement damage unless they can do it realistically. Forza had damage but you crash into a wall at 150 and you'll get a small dent on your car, definitely not realistic

Bullshit. That has to be the prologue only. The full-blown one can't have less than GT4.

Well to answer your questions about damage it seems they are going to implement it. Its just going to take awhile.

http://www.ps3news.ca/04162008/17/full_gt5_wont_hit_ps3_til_summer_2009_at_the_earli est

They say the full version won't be released until the summer of 2009, which is disappointing but o well.

Best Buy is having a special today where if you buy GT5 Prologue for $39, you can get a DualShock3 for $20 more.

Considering the Dualshock is worth $55 on its own, this is a pretty good deal!
