View Full Version : I always seem to favor the longest songs

Am I the only one who does this? It seems that, on every single album, my favorite track off of it is the longest track. The only exceptions to this are either if the song isn't to my liking or is a cover song (in which the longest original track takes the trophy).

Take, for example, Megadeth

Killing Is My Business: Looking Down the Cross
Peace Sells: Black Friday
So Far, So Good: In My Darkest Hour
Rust In Peace: Holy Wars
Countdown to Extinction: Ashes In Your Mouth
Youthanasia: Addicted to Chaos
Cryptic Writings: A Secret Place
Risk: Prince of Darkness
The World Needs A Hero: When?
The System Has Failed: The Scorpion
United Abominations: Sleepwalker

Those are all the longest songs off of each album. That's not just with Megadeth either, that's with just about every other album. Maybe it has something to do with me liking songs that have many different levels to them, which typically demands more time. Anyone else have this strange syndrome?

Third Eye - Tool

My god this song is epic. The song constantly changes and never repeats sections. It's fucking brilliant. And fun to play on guitar too.

I do enjoy quite a bit of prog. It's not safe from the longest-song rule with me.

Sleep - Dopesmoker

An hour and 3 minutes of awesome stoner rock. I have yet to come across anything longer.

Devil Doll - The Sacrilege of Fatal Arms (http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=14308) and Corrupted - El Mundo Frio (http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=97386) come to mind, but Dopesmoker blows them both away in my opinion.
