Most DM bands use them due to their aesthetic appeal and the ones they are geting are on account of their endorsement deal, so they get them custom made to all of their specifications.

The problem is, ever since Bernie Rico stepped out, they've become reliant on their looks. In the 80's and 90's, they were all very high quality instruments, which is why you saw so many of the mainstream guitarists in glam/hard rock using them.

Now, most of their instruments under $1000 or so are Korean-made bullshit. You can usually tell it's of lower quality if it has a widow headstock. Chuck Schuldiner is one of the few musicians that I really admire. Not only was he an amazing musician and songwriter of the first and possibly the greatest death metal band, but he also had to go through a lot of shit in his life to get there. RIP Chuck. :wah:
