Why does GTAIV look so shitty?

I love this game, but the graphics are horrendous! I have a 21" Samsung 2253BW Widescreen LCD monitor, and the graphics still have jagged edges and stuff...


Is this how the game is supposed to look or what??

Word. Cables are huge for picture quality. You dont need high end HDMI cables, $40 will get you phenominal picture and sound.

I have a full HD 42" LCD TV, it connected to my PS3 via a very expensive HDMI cable, and the graphics have jagged edges and are generally not very good in a lot of places. I wouldn't say they were horrendous, but when I look at the trailers and commercials for the game I feel conned with what I've been sold.

Actually its really good, Im not sure why on some peoples tv's its jaggedy, my friend is having the same problem on a 42'' sony wega. I have a 32'' rca and it looks amazing. I guess you need to tweak the settings, try 720p instead of 1080i or something? im not sure. But the graphics in the trailers look just like mine.

Wrong. Only the 360 version is 720p, the PS3 version is Sub-HD ;)

Anyway. Your best bet would be to tweak around with your TV, if you haven't already. You should also factor in the the 360 has a very sharper look to its version, almost 'too' sharp (which would lead to a lot of jaggies), and that in the PS3 version, it's extremely washed.

If it still looks like shit, are you playing through VGA? Find your screens native resolution and set up from there, as that may be reason.

i turned everything up to max, brightness contrast, etc. The game was way too dark for me and i couldnt see shit at night.

Btw, I am using a VGA cable, and i tweaked everything and it still just doesnt look up to what I thought it should and would. It reminds me of when I got GTA:SA for my computer a while back.... thats what it kind of looks like.


Dont get me wrong, it doesnt look completely horrible horrible, but there are so many weird jaggies everywhere, like my safe house walls look jagged, my health bar looks jagged, and a lot more things.
