Damn, I don't know anything about cars and I'm a guy. Supposedly, we're suppose to know everything about cars. I don't even understand half the shit they're talking about on car commercials. Am I the only guy who knows nothing about cars?

I don't know to much either, I know how to refill gas, coolant, and oil (and I don't mean changing it, just putting a quart in), I know how to put air in the tire(but I don't know how much is efficient), I also know how to put air fresheners on my rear view mirror, I know how to program stations from the radio, and I know that everytime I take my car to get fixed I feel like I'm getting ripped off- but of course can't do anything about it.

Oh ya, I saw a show once that explained how to get out of a trunk if your locked in it....so I have that goin for me.

Worst Case Scenario...

Because of that show I'll know what to do when I'm being shot at in a helicopter at blazing speeds, and also how to fix a ripped tire with gum

cars are easy all you have to do is buy a chilton or hanes manual for your can and then just learn the terminoligy it is pretty simple all it takes is a little effort and at 40-50 bucks an hour for a mechinac isn't it worth the effort

What do you wish to know? Just ask , i may know the answer, if not, i'll make something up that sounds like the truth:D
j/k. i will offer these basic suggestions though.
1. Do not take your vehicle to any Midas, TuneUp Master type shops, they're all crooks, i know alot of ppl that work in these type shops. They're crooks.
2. do find a small independent shop to do your repairs, make sure they're reputable, ask the BBB in your area, word of mouth also. These guys are actually trying to eat and want you to come back. Find a good one and stick with them.
3. Change your oil every 3k miles, thats the most important thing you could ever do for your motor.

I know a few things out of the ordinary like what weights to use on oil, how to change it, how to check belts. I know a lot about parts cause I worked in a parts store for a while. Then I also was a car sales person for 2yrs. So I guess I know some. I know how to screw up people's cars when they piss u off. I mean more than just scratch up the paint or bust the glass. I know how to screw stuff up good like the fuel tank, exhaust system or the whole engine.

heh. the important things , huh? Cool:D Try a lil' brake fluid in a squirt bottle. Be sure and hit every panel:D But only to someone you really do not like:rolleyes:

They're blocks on wheels, they have engines, and they go fast. (except for lada's and yugo's, they're the slowest and shittiest cars in the world)

While changing oil every 3,000 miles seems to be the norm, it is not necessary. Any name brand oil on the market today is good for 10,000 miles. Although I wouldn't recommend waiting that long between changes, the oil will do the job if necessary. 6,000 miles is a good number. If the engine is good, 6,000 is fine. I have put over 200,000 miles on seven different vehicles with oil changes at 6,000 to 8,000 miles and never had an engine failure. All these engines would run between oil changes without losing any oil, and were as dependable the day I sold them as they were the day I bought them new. People believe that oil needs changing every 3,000 miles because the manufacturers of the product have told you this. Think about it. 25 years ago you couldn't find a mechanic who would recommend changing oil more than every 5,000 miles. Since then the oils have been dramatically improved and by logic, the mileage between changes should have increased. Think about it. The way I see it, about half of the oil and filters sold, are wasted. So is the money to pay for it.

i compleatly agree. when i was a freshman i took an auot tech class in H.S. my instructor told us the exact same thing about the engines oil. also, don't ever believe that high priced gasoline can "clean" your engine...

I thought someone would never ask. First of all, my fav, a ping pong ball in the gas tank is fun. It is light so it floats. As Mr. OR Miss Bad drives, the ping pong ball gets sucked to the opening of the fuel line. Chug Chug clug clug the car stops running, seems out of gas. After a few minutes the car can start again. They get tired of the repetition of the event, take it to a mechanic. Mr Mechanic runs it for a few but not enough to suck the ping pong ball or if he does, he then has to empty the fuel tank, drop it and get out the ball or get a new tank. Major bucks there. Then my next fav, expandable foam found at any major or minor hardware store. Hmmmm.... the wonders of it fill up my mind. Expandle foan their tailpipe. It solidifies. HAHAHAHA. That is fun to do. Also can do this to mail box and they have to get a new one. Ha. Next. drain the oil. Mmmm. leave just a little so it starts and goes down the highway about half a quart. Does wonders for the whole engine. Ha. Loosen the filter and let oil go everywhere. Same thing. These things usually can be done when no on is looking and without much effort. Finally my most fav but I have NEVER done. Loosen lugs on wheels of the driveline. Front wheel drive do the front, rear wheel drive do the back or do both to be sure if you don't know. This could cost a life though and that probally would not be cool. So that one is just fun to put in your mind only.

Here are my solutions for car problems:
Flat tire: Call AAA
Out of gas: call AAA
Need a jump: call AAA

All other car problems can be solved by dating a mechanic....which I have done for many years...not the same mechanic though
Sound superficial? Damn skippy!
I swear, the AAA platinum membership, I think is what it's called, it freakin' pays for itself!
