This movie was absolutley horrible. Terrible. Awful. It was just a really boring movie with crappy actors. I'm not kidding there were about 80 sharks in total in that movie. This was their logic, "hey damn we've only done about 30 mins of this movie, what could possibly make it more enjoyable??? LETS THROW IN ANOTHER SHARK!"....(after another 30 mins of shark dilemas)" Shit! 5 mins left in the movie.... Well... HEY LETS HAVE THEM BOTH DIE!!!" What pussys. I mean come on! Also, they threw in a couple of boobs just to make it R. Even this 8 year old kid yelled "That was fucking stupid." when the movie was over. Please do me a favor. Don't see this terribly disappointing movie.

I was sort of looking to see it, but I was kind of wondering how they would have made a whole movie out of that. Now I know.
Maybe I'll see it later in life, but I would definantly rather not go to the theater to see a "not that great" movie. Going to see movies is expensive!

yeah the camera quality isn't good. They try to make it realistic by having it a camcorder, but i would rather see a good movie with cool effects than a movie thats not even real life try to be realistic. Who are they fooling?

Are you shitting me? On the trailer it showed two people floating in water. How much do you think they spent on the movie, 80 bucks? I think I could make a better one with my digital camera.
Alot of critics said this movie was great and "scary" What the hell where they thinking? I agree the movie sucked and they could have made it better with some robots.

yea this is a horrible concept for a movie, I mean the whole thing is just 2 people stuck in the ocean, its the same scene for however long the movie is, theres not much you can do with that...well theres lots you can do but it wouldn't be 'realistic'

I saw the preview for the movie and it didnt look scary at all. The preview just used a lot of loud noises to try and scare the audience.

on the previews, it looked like a scene from "castaway" where he swims to the island... whatever

yeah plus you see the guys microscopic penis for a second. Imagine how small it would be in that cold water. And it wasn't warm in that room. There was no way it could have been retracted at all. They said the heater was broken. Actors always have small dicks. 28 days and supertroopers are proof. Yet they both were great movies. BUT NOT OPEN WATER.

Well on the poster outside my cinema it says 'Jaws meets Blair Witch' so that could explain the shitty camera if there doing it like Blair Witch.

I, for one, enjoyed the movie. Granted, it wasn't scary, but neither are any other movies I've seen in my lifetime. Low budget, film festival caliber movies are the ones i enjoy the most, so I may be a little biased, but I thought Open Water was good.

I actuialy liked the movie. Don't get me wrong, I have a background in the field though. I worked with a professional sport fishing fleet back home before I went off to college. And I did almost a dive a week. I thought it was interesting.
The funniest part of the movie though was when they showed te girl lying there naked on the bed. I was not really paying attention to the movie. I was kinda leaning over to the side whispering something to my date when she poped up. In a completely silent theater I just blatently went "Woah!" really loud. The entire theater started cracking up. :p

Actually I loved the concept, I just think it was done poorly. Particularly the night time scene which was the scariest part yet absolutely way way way too short. To me there were three flaws with this movie. The climatic night time scene was not long enough, the actors were not emotional enough, they didnt make me believe they were even scared, way to calm, and the wife didnt even cry when her husband bit it, and the ending was just poor. It needed a muchmore dramatic and bloodier ending.
On a side note, the titty scene caused an absolutely hilarious thing to happen at the theter i went to. A bunch of immature little girls were screaming eww eww eww and some big black woman stands up in the middle of the movie and screams in a big black woman accent, "What the hell you ewwing about, theyre just fucking titties!"

the guy dies of shock..how much gayer can you get..if the shark would dragged him under, and the girl starts screamin, and then theres like a minute of silence and shes crying, and then the guys head floats up, with its eyes still open but lifeless, would have made the movie 8000 times more enjoyable.
