Ive been going insane. For weeks ive been trying to figure out something that could make my guitar sound like a sitar. Does anyone know any tunning or something that could make it sound like a sitar?

If you are talking about like feedback, when it sounds like a spaceship landing, then you take a beer bottle or a can and you rub it against the strings or your guitar

If your talking about that, then i think you need a pedal, I got the weapon(a pedel)and one of the sounds kinda sounds like that.

well you don't absolutly need a petal. Travis Meeks of "Days of the New" has a few very eastern-sounding songs with strange tunnings (Independant Slaves, Giving in) so i'd give them a try. Im not really sure what they are, so you'd have to research it. Also this band called "The Tea Party" has a very eastern feeling to its riffs (and i believe many are, in fact, from a guitar), so i'd also look into them if i were you.

You can't really make a guitar sound like a sitar. The sitar has way too many strings and is a different instrument entirely. The build is different. Now if you just want that kind of middle-eastern sound with your playing, try picking the strings as close to the bridge as possible. It will give you that twangy sound, and sounds good especially if you're playing some middle-eastern scales.

Or if you'd rather not wreck your guitar.....you can buy a sitar. Nothing will make it sound like one. Sorry man.

Nice find, that neck looks awfully wide.
The closest I have come to making an electric guitar sound like a sitar is by plucking a string then lihgtly fingernail it like in the beatles song "I feel fine"

Boston has the best guitar sound effects!! They didn't have all the processors and amps with effects on them. They made all those cool sounds on a guitar with just pure talent.

http://store1.yimg.com/I/stringthis_1801_7662873 that's a link to a guitar 'sitar' pedal, it's made by danelectro, goes for about $120...
and for those who dont know what a sitar is... listen to the beatles more often. "norwegian wood" was their first song with a sitar, inspired after the beatles filmed the movie "help!" (harrison was introduced to the sitar in the making of the film), after that the beatles started experimenting heavily on their music.
