Best Music In A Video Game

I've played many video games, and there are certain ones that stick out as having the best music to go with them. Now of course all of the Final Fantasy series had great music so don't even mention them, just a waste of time, that's a given. Here is my list.


Diablo (The Original) - The Tristram Theme Music, Very Mood Setting and Addictive.

Super Mario RPG - The Super Pipe House music which was a remix of the super mario theme.

I've always loved the Zelda Series music, all of every song practically.

The Illusion Of Gaia - Final Boss Music

Star Fox - Ending Music

Super Metroid - Super Metroid Theme

As you can see I'm mostly a Super Nintendo person when it comes to video game music, and my favorite song of all time in a video game has to be:

Megaman X2 - Zero's Rebirth: This was such a perfect song and it fit everything that Zero was about, absolutely perfect.

Almost all the zelda game music are great
Theme Hospital music
Ballon Fight music
Sim 3000 music
Mario game music, too much game to find the good one.

Tony Hawk's Underground had the best music, in my opinion. I also love the Super Metroid music, its classic.

although the Zelda series games are my personal favorite videogames, I'd have to say the music in Splinter Cell 1 and 2 because it gets faster when your detected so it gives a good atmosphere.

Rareware has produced some of the best game music ever. All the Donkey Kong Country games, especially the second one, had kickass music like the hypnotic Brambles theme. Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie also had some good tunes.

well the thing about Vice City is that the music wasn't really just made for the game, it was afterall an 80s compiliation. so I think we are sticking to music that is only found in the game, otherwise id say the GT games had great music.

First of all Cwergy, I already said don't bother mentioning any of the Final Fantasy series. And second of all, 6 probably had the best music of any, so any since 7 is a dumb statement to make, usually only made by people who have only played 7 and up.

Just any final fantasy in general. But my favorite, even though i am not big on star wars, was SHADOW OF THE EMPIRE. God i love that music. I still hum it to this day, liek 8 years after the fact.

I think final fantasy 6 7 8 had the best music, since we are on the subject. And yes I know we are supposed to ignore that category. I still remember hearing the FF6 world theme, so beautiful. It was midi and it still kicked the crap out of any videogame music nowadays. The chrono games had the best music aside from FF.

I liked the music in FFVIII... but I think my favourite soundtrack would be a toss up between Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean 2: The Second Story.

Going Nintendo, old school: The original Legend of Zelda dungeon theme was sick, all Super Mario 2 songs, Contra, Guerilla War (if you remember that, you own)

J-Pop, Anime songs....all suck. What's the point of listen to crappy pop songs in another language... I'm sorry..street fighter, who'ever listens to that has issues. These artists don't even count...they don't even rite there own music + plus its in another language!!! What a joke. Tony Hawks music rox cuz it has small punk bands. GTA is decent cuz it has some 80's rock. NHL is good cuz it has canadian rock. Zelda's music sux well because its video game music and its just bizarre!!

They also have had bands like Pennywise and NOFX
