Nearly 300 arrested in U.S. mortgage probe

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Nearly 300 people have been arrested in a 3-1/2 month national coordinated mortgage-fraud probe to be disclosed Thursday, a U.S. Justice Department official said.

The official said 60 suspects were arrested in a sweep Wednesday and more arrests were being made Thursday. The Justice Department is set to discuss the probe at a news conference at 1:15 p.m. EDT
