Here, In Canada, gas is 5.40$ a gallon [$1.35/L] and food is roughly 30-40% more expensive than the U.S and always has been, since far back as I remember.
My parents, who live on the Maine/N.B border always drive over to get gas and food, because it's cheaper.
What I'm trying to say is.. within 1-2 years when you guys see a surplus on food by 40%, let's say, and gas is 5-6$ a liter in the U.S. Don't worry..
It won't hurt your economy that much. Canada, whose dollar only recently became strong than the U.S, has been paying more for ages for all goods/services and we are still a strong nation. Sure our minimum wage is higher and out west, where I currently am now, you get paid 13$ for working at Dairy Queen..
THIINGS WON'T BE THAT BAD. So cheer up:rolleyes:

All attempts at trolling aside. . .
What's our minimum wage?
What's the rate of unemployment in Canada?
How's the job market there?
Are you currently engaged in two wars which have cost trillions of your dollars, with the strong rumor of a third one on the way?

$13 working at dairy queen + health care... not a bad deal if you are on the low end of the economic spectrum.
Here in alberta there is not enough people for the shitty jobs so they are forced to pay way over min wage just to get people. 13 dollars an hour in a fast food industry job is not a new thing here. Alberta has the fastest growing economy in all of the world, but it sucks to live here if you are poor, a 15 dolar an hour job just does not cut it when you are paying 1000 dollars a shitty ass one bedroom apt., then add in expensive gas + food and pretty soon you feel like your working for nothing.

Min wage in the U.S varies.. but it's 6-8$, roughly. I was told.
Unemployment rate is 6.5%, roughly.
Job Market out West is amazingly strong.
Just 1 war..
That's enough.

I guess not..
Why low end?
You can live off of 1,700 clear a month. Well, not me, but if 2 parents are making 13$ an hour and have free health care, well.. It's liveable :)
My bills per month are about 2000, so I need atleast 3000$ a month to live half decently. 250$ a week "free" spending money.

True. That's why I get confused when I walk into McDonalds, KFC, Macks or any other store lol.. Don't know if you walked into a burger joint or a Chinese/Indian restaurant haha

I guess the Healthcare thing isint too bad, but I never go to the doctor unless its really serious cause there are usaully 3-4 hours waiting time to see a doc in a clinic. Canada has a shortage of Doctors cause they all move to the states once they graduate to make the real money$.

And on top of that our great conservitive provincial government wants to privatize certain sectors of our healthcare system to make it muti-tiered. Essentially meaning if you have money you can skip surgery cues. bulshit all around.
Our Premier gave himself a 34 percent wage increase as soon as he was elected, Alberta Health Minister Ron Leipert says it's not his fault three senior doctors in his department are leaving, but it is, they wanted more money, government said no, but instead gave themselves a hefty raise, so trhe senoir doctors quit.
