So I got i tv from wal-mart, I wanted a big high definition tv mainly for games, I ended up with a 42 inch Sanyo, its 1080p and the picture quality just isnt very good, so Im going to take it back and get a new one.

When I got the first one i didnt really know what I was looking for, I just knew 1080p, so heres my question, what should I look for in a good high-def tv as far as apect ratio, response time, contrast ratio, and anything else thats important, any help would be great, thanks.

Yes check your connections, make sure you're using the right cables and such. There's no such thing as a horrible 1080p picture unless you're unknowingly feeding it a SD signal or a horribly upconverted signal.

Most HDTVs are 16:9 aspect ratio which is what I prefer, since a 16:10 screen tends to stretch a 16:9 image slightly. For response time, don't buy anything higher than 8ms. Try to get a tv with < 8ms if you can to completely eliminate ghosting. For contrast ratio, higher ratios tend to be better but the real test is to visually see how well the tv can display black and white.

So I got i tv from wal-mart
First mistake. You might think that just because it's 1080P it's going to kick ass, but Wal Mart TVs suck compared to real ones.

The Aquos range is fairly good but Samsung or Sony are the brands you should look at. What console are you hook up to it?

Im going to hook it up to my 360, I have the hdmi cables for it, so i should get a good picture, but it never looked great. Im also thinking about buying a ps3, mainly for the blu-ray player, and maybe for fallout 3. Do you think the price on that tv was fair for its size? Any suggestions on what tv i should get would be great, Im looking for one thats about 1000 or less, not greater than 40 inces, but not smaller than 32
