Better than last weeks Haze review, however he still doesn't really take much of a decent stand on MGS4, just the usual cutscene shit.

Does anyone actually find this guy funny? I've seen his haze review, and despite the fact that haze was a genuinely shitty game, i failed to find any humor even though i wanted to laugh. It might be because he's British.
Anyways, whatever happened to this comment?
<checks to see if the backlash has started>
<sees people still enjoying the game>

I was taking the piss out of a trend that happens to hyped up games, perfect example is GTA4, everyone loved it too bits ... completed it ... hated it.

"Metal Gear Solid is and has always been very badly written." Are you fucking kidding me? I sense some serious biased statements here. MGS4 is based solely on it's unbelievable storyline. It is not badly written, that is a fact. Ask anyone who has ever played through all the games, they aren't boring, they have amazing storylines, and yes they can be confusing at times, but you have to understand it's not a game for people who cant comprehend it, or little kids. It's a game for more mature players who are into more than just run and gun killing sequences.

because you seem to be really digging to find shit to say about this game. It's like someone saying one bad thing about this game will officially make your day.

MG storyline is an overly convoluted piece of crap.
Ohh, we'll call this one solid snake and that one....liquid snake. Oh, don't forget gas snake and plasma snake! Then you have sniper-occolat, umm gun-wolf...just brilliant.
I've been entertained by the series here and there, but they are NOT well written.

Could it be because MGS4 is actually a good game????
Virtually everyone who has finished the game, myself included, agree that it's one of the best games to come out for this generation of consoles.
GTA4 on the other hand, most people say it's overrated. That's because it is.

it's not so much about defending MGS4, but i utterly hate it when people talk shit about a game they've never played for personal reasons.

i don't want to go through individual posts, but its like you're always TRYING to find some shit to say about it. You wanted people to explain to you how exactly the game is good, like you were in total disbelief that people were actually enjoying the game

That isn't a fact, it's an opinion. I agree with your opinon as well, but don't try to pass it off as fact.

I don't think you hate it, I just don't think you like it which is cool if you're not into that kind of stuff.
As for the review, I think this guy is fucking hilarious. I loved his review on SSBB and GTA4 but this one was horrible. It was like if a fan of Civilization reviewed Tiberium Wars for the 360. You just have to see it at a different point of view.
And to everyone that says the writing is bad; well of course it's bad, since when have english translators done their job well?

Hahah. Zero Punctuation always makes some pretty funny reviews. I was just watching this today with a friend who has never seen a ZP review before, and told him that while ZP sometimes makes valid points, you must always take what he says with at least one to two tablespoons of salt.
For instance, he said the controls were designed well for sneaking missions, but once you get in a gun fight, the controls become convoluted? Since when was holding L1 to ready your weapon, tapping triangle -once- to go into FPS mode (which btw you can change in the options to automatically put you into FPS mode whenever you bring out your weapon) and tapping/holding R1 to fire your weapon become so convoluted?
Edit: Oh yeah, he also said you have to get out of your crouching position if you're behind cover in order to fire your weapon...Also false. Bah.
Lmao @ the "sniper-'occolat'" and "gun-wolf" comment. That was my first big laugh of the day, hopefully it's not the last! I think there's someone on PSN named "Gassy Snake." I'm jealous I didn't think of that name sooner...
The Metal Gear Solid series is well-written. Sure it's not the -best- written script out there because it sports many redundant topics like how Private Military Companies are out there to get you and en masse, as well as the nanomachines that control people, creating artificial and efficient warriors with supernatural abilities, but the game coupled with its cutscenes is so long, that players need that kind of...repetition from time to time in order for this complicated story to make sense. Keep in mind, the story goes way back to Metal Gear for the NES. It's a long fucking story, and it's nice to have almost all the information summed up in one game. I dunno, maybe I'm just used to putting up with poorly translated J-RPGS? (cough FFVII)
Also, for the record, I don't think rand0m has ever attempted to bash MGS4 in any thread to date.

Alright then if its not well written, tell me another game that can effectively conclude a storyline that began over 15 years ago. The game seamlessly intertwines and concludes storylines from Metal Gear, MGS 1, MGS 2, and MGS 3. What other game does that?
This is basically Metal Gear Solid 4's storyline: War has changed, it is no longer fought because of nationality or ideals, it has become its own self sustaining economy. Private Military Companies fight as Mercenaries for other nations. PMC soldiers have been injected with nanomachines to make combat easier to coordinate. Our Hero Snake, faces the problem of accelerated aging, due to FOXDIE injected into him during MGS 1(minor spoiler, deal with it). The main nemesis, Liquid Ocelot is planning on taking over The System (the program that controls the nanomachines in the soldiers). I wrote that off the top of my head, is it really that hard to understand?

By that he meant if you want to shoot over something, you have to get out of crouch. You can shimmy all the way to the side so you can shoot from the corner, but in order to shoot over, say, a sandbag wall for cover, you have to disengage from cover, stand up, and fire, then go back into cover.

Ahh, I gotcha. Sounds like he was looking for a Gears/Drake's Fortune type of cover system. That would've been slightly convenient I suppose. Nothing much to complain about, but again this is just ZP's way of exaggerating small things for comedic purposes, hence why the one to two tablespoons of salt =p.

Jesus christ ...
People just like to rag on you at every opportunity. I completely understand that whole "checks to see if backlash has started" statement you made and it's also very true. Every game that has that much hype and following around it eventually comes out, and a few weeks later shitloads of people just dog on it and say it's overrated and blah blah blah.

YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO PLAY MGS4 TO APPRECIATE IT>
And the game should be on a hard difficulty too so the chances of getting spotted are realistic.
