First, WHY FAST ZOMBIES? ...seriously why?

Now am I the only one that thinks the source engine is outdated? the graphics are really quite poor and something else, the way the camera moves around really fast, almost wobbly.... and the way the characters/guns all look so cheap, games need to have a little bit of "chunkiness" to 'em in order to get the right feel across.

well don't know how you fuck up a zombie game but they did it.

You've played it? How interesting!

you know what i mean though? like in cs the movement feels really "loose" which is coupled by the fast cursor? either valve is lazy or they don't really care about creating a game with a solid feel and atmosphere

source engine does not use heightmap based mapping. it's much easier for them to create detailed urban environments and interior corridors than other engines. also what other engine would you have them use?

maybe so but with source your player still moves around like he's trapped in duke nukem 3d.

The source engine looks shit so people with old computers can play the games.

Yea, i still think source engine is up to date if not ahead a little, the source engine creates the most realistic motion blur and HDR out of any engine, plus the seeming less integration of the game with the user friendly interface is just excellent. I would have picked only one other engine for this job and that would be the unreal 3, only because it being a zombie game. the unreal engine would be able to push out that gritty look that gears and unreal tournament have. That would have just been incorporated amazingly.

TL : DR, source engine is fine.

funny you'd mention unreal! another game that comes across as amateurish, I've always hated the graphics/feel of that game. It's just so.....empty

yeah the unreal engine would be fine too. they're both easy to mod and everyone knows when a game becomes moddable it becomes exponentially better. also considering valve is producing this game, why would they spend millions to produce a new engine when they already have a good one?

anyways valves probably just using this game to showcase the kind of features that we'll see in episode 3.

Wrong. The game has been in development for longer than the "Episodes" have been out, and it is being developed by Turtle Rock. It isnt just a tech demo.

Maybe because they want to focus on the game and not worry about getting it running and working properly.

Lol, I can't tell if your genuine or if your trolling.

L4D has an updated Source Engine btw. I really like how they darkened the edges of the screen to give it a kind of enclosed feeling. I seriously can't wait for this game though, it looks like its going to have a shit load of replayability.

Unreal 3 is fucking amazing, what the hell do you want from an engine?

First, they're not zombies.

I do think the Source engine is a bit outdated but it's HDR and facial animations are still better than many other game engines. And left 4 dead is designed to be a fast paced shooter, so running around real fast is going to be important.

It's all cool. Cause Dead Island is just around the corner too, and that game is going to be BA. First zombie game where i can realistically damage them(blunt trauma, broken bones, awesome etc.).
