What do you mean by pigeonholing?
Personally, I don't care. It must be nice for Obama to reach out to some people who may not be much into politics. I don't read the magazine though, so I don't know what their content is like.

Nothing. But in todays multi-divided America you want to to try and not alienate any one group. And with all the bullshit media outlets any position you take can be exploited to your disadvantage.

exactly, i do see this furthering the sentiment of some skeptics in the older generations, but at the end of the day this is great press. it may even sway some non-voters to vote which will balance things out

You're right. It's pretty disgusting that many Americans probably actually do base their voting decisions on who is on the cover of their favorite magazines.

Does anyone remember this article they published in 2004 titled "Was the 2004 election stolen?". It's long but interesting. What was your take on it?
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/10432334/was_the_2004_election_stolen
"But despite the media blackout, indications continued to emerge that something deeply troubling had taken place in 2004. Nearly half of the 6 million American voters living abroad(3) never received their ballots -- or received them too late to vote(4) -- after the Pentagon unaccountably shut down a state-of-the-art Web site used to file overseas registrations.(5) A consulting firm called Sproul & Associates, which was hired by the Republican National Committee to register voters in six battleground states,(6) was discovered shredding Democratic registrations.(7) In New Mexico, which was decided by 5,988 votes,(8) malfunctioning machines mysteriously failed to properly register a presidential vote on more than 20,000 ballots.(9) Nationwide, according to the federal commission charged with implementing election reforms, as many as 1 million ballots were spoiled by faulty voting equipment -- roughly one for every 100 cast.(10)"

Or perhaps what the person you quoted meant was that people would find the content from the interview in line with their beliefs and that would inspire them to vote.
Horrbile picture.

Point me to one sentence in that article that should sway voters to Barack Obama. Absolutely fucking nothing. Did you look at the link? It was just a fun interview discussing his musical tastes. Of course, you Obamamaniacs are swept up in his "black and cool" youth movement, so you probably WOULD vote for him based on that article. I mean, you've already admitted you're not voting for John McCain because he has an evil smile and sinister laugh, so you're a perfect Obama supporter.

Wow dude how is what I said being a troll? You basically just reinforced what I originally posted...
McCain won't be getting my vote because he is yet another tired, cliched, corrupted, crooked, Bush clone who will change his "maverick" policies in order to get into office. I don't want four more years of George Cheney Bush.
P.S. That link you just posted wasn't the Rolling Stones interview.
EDIT:
P.P.S. And the point of a light hearted musical interview with a presidential candidate is exposure. It gets his name out there to people so they become interested in him as a person. They in turn go out and learn more about Barack Obama. Get the actual interview and you will see that he discusses more than just the music on his Ipod. It's sad that I have to take the time to explain this to such a young and inexperienced member.

Rolling Stone's been political basically as long as it's been about music. That legacy belongs to Hunter S. Thompson when he ripped American politics a thousand new assholes.

The music part was, if not just 50 percent of the magazine. The magazine has always been liberal for the longest of time. Heck, Hunter S. Thompson wrote for the mag.
Anyways, I have no idea why people are caring about this. It Barack in a mag. He talks about music in this issue, in the last issue he talked about his politics.
Although, I do like the fact that we may have a president that listens to Jay-Z.
edit: beat me to it. But yeah, the magazine has been this way since well before Bush.

Get the fuck off this forum. Seriously.
The link I posted had nothing to do with the Rolling Stone interview?
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, to be published this Friday, the Illinois senator said he had "pretty eclectic tastes".
And I never denied that the interview was good for his exposure, but you came in and insulted me for replying to someone who said that the interview might sway voters to Obama. Now that I've seen firsthand how stupid most Obama supporters really are, I can understand why you think an article about what a candidate has on his iPod is good for swaying voters. Barack Obama is only still around because he's smart enough to realize that Americans are too lazy to actually look at policies, and instead respond to "Change" and "Hope."
Please post the article, because I want to see it transcend beyond his musical tastes.

Your personal insults and name calling go unpunished. That's cool.
Perhaps you get more slack because this is considered an education for undeveloped boys who have bigger intellectual ambitions. Good luck in your quest.
You are ignorant of what you speak of. I am sorry that is an insult to you.
You speak on things that you clearly have very little REAL information on and you do it with such conviction as to be easily deconstructed by a member who is willing to give little tykes a pat on the butt and send them on their way.
I'm sorry this insults you.

I was actually dismissing this as trivial until you came in and said I was ignorant.
Post the interview, then. I want to see where it delves into Barack Obama's policies, or at least something worthy of swaying undecided voters to him, since I'm obviously not enlightened like you.
I should have KNOWN John McCain had an evil smile, and decided not to support him right there!

There's your problem. You have this superiority complex, in which you know more than anyone who doesn't blindly follow Barack Obama.
If you consider 16 a child, then sure. I tend to think of myself as more informed than 99% of American voters, though, considering I actually take the time to research the political platforms of the candidates.
