Well after my obscenity laced thread was deleted (by myself), I thought I would give an updated review of the game Grid. It starts you off in some really difficult cars to manage (F1, LM), but after you get through a few races in them, you get to start your own team with the cars you want and you start with a pretty tame Mustang. Here's what I like and dislike.

Good:
*graphics/sound
*selection of cars
*game layout (actually has a story as opposed to Gran Turismo)
*difficult
*can have sponsors, teamates, etc
*different racing genres: LM, F1, stock, drifting (gay), demolition derby!!
*rewind feature---if you wreck or mess up, allows you to rewind 3 or 4 seconds and do it over (3-5 times a race)---awesome!

Bad:
*incredible oversteer
*tracks are not too exciting
*cannot modify cars beyond appearance

Overall, I'd say it's easily the best racing game I have played. It has the realistic aspects of Gran Turismo with a much better layout, story, and fun factor.

Hey someone else that likes the game, I played the demo through a few times and thought it was a really well done game. Then when I look to see what everyone else things all I found was cocky petrol heads bitching about it been shit.

Nice to find someone else that likes it.

Does it have the credits to buy cars like GT?

Money you win (and get from sponsors and teamates) allows you to buy cars.

GRID is a good game. Unfortunately it came out around the same time as MGS4 so most people on PS3 probably don't even know about it.

I love the Flashback feature, even though it makes the game really easy. I know you can up the difficulty which rewards you with slightly more money and fame, but the increase is too small for the risk of losing an entire race.

This isn't need for speed, and I can't agree with you.

If you people actually played the game, and actually read the OP, you would appreciate it.
Go back to your forza, or play the superior gt5 when it comes out next february, for now, its all about GRID.
*PS you can't flame me because I got it for free bitches.

Are you fucking retarded? Don't get me wrong, its a fun game, but nowhere within the realm of realistic.

I know NFS isn't actually realistic, it's an arcade based racing game just like GRID, notice the sarcastic smilie:rolleyes:. Yes, i will stick with Gran Turismo Prologue because it's infinitely more realistic than GRID.

Yeah because bouncing round corners is fun right?

For something as simple as a racing game, I find the lack of Damage modeling in the new Grand Turismo quite pathetic. Have they really dropped any kind of physical immersion just to add a few more polygons to their cars?

Well, its not the final version, just a very big demo, you could say.

Yep, apparently the full game next year will have damage modeling, we'll see.

Grid right now is probably my most played game. My grid setup:

To clarify, it is NOT realistic. It's just a great racer. Sometimes I wish it had the ability to modify your suspensions and camber angles. With the wheel, I feel as if my back end is way too loose around turns. I also have the feeling of being too light and I'm floating around. Being able to lower my suspension would've solved this, but no option to wrench my rides.

Other than that, grid is a lot of fun. Especially on the xbox 360 wheel.

I'm not very optimistic about how they're going to implement damage in GT5. This is the kind of thing that should've been in the game in the first place, not shoehorned in as a patch. Have you ever seen how badly damaged a car can get in Grid? I doubt GT will ever come anywhere close to that with a patch. The GT developers will probably model in a dented panel for each four sides of the car, apply the same dent for 10 mph to 150mph collisions, and call it done.

Also GT needs to fix it's multiplayer problems. The collision penalties and the ghosting of cars during turns *IS VERY POORLY IMPLEMENTED*.

The ghosting turns off collisions during turns, so it basically allows you to drive through other players. Driving simulator my ass. WTF kind of driving simulator allows you to pass other cars by driving through them?

As long as the Braking, Apex, and Acceleration points are accurate, i'm satisfied. After all, you're playing a driving sim to learn the track and how the car behaves, you're not playing to learn how to crash. Professional Drivers use the game to get a feel for the track, do you really think they care how the car crashes?

PS: the new Gran Turismo is a PROLOGUE, damage modeling will either be added in a update or to Gran Turismo 5.

I think you're taking the 'Professional Drivers' line too literally. It's like saying the Marines play Doom to make them more efficient killers.

No, it's angsty 13 year olds that play Doom so they can thoroughly learn how to load a firearm, hold it correctly, and kill their schoolmates.

How do you explain Kazunori's Tsukuba laptimes rivaling professional drivers after just a few laps then?
