therefore that the military budget of the us is 400 billion dollars, i would not say that you don't have weapons. plus, a shotgun won't help a whole lot against things other than people.

rather use small nukes (what a pathetic idea, just thinking about that makes me sick. anybody read a bit about it and i would like to talk about this, cuz i find it very pathetic, very sad)

chris_78660

what the fuck are you talking about???
do you think that the 400 billion dollars is at my disposal? do you think that I have the authority to order a low nuke strike on a reported terrorist in my neighborhood?
i want a shotgun to make sure that i have a larger chance of hitting the HUMAN that i would be shooting at. think....then post, din

somone blowing up a building and gun control are 2 seperate issues, it's not like the perps subdued or killed anyone to plant the bomb.

Dins
05-21-2003, 11:24 PM
ok, chris, just answer this question: what do you think you would be attacked by, that you want to protect yourself from? or by whom?

chris_78660
05-21-2003, 11:46 PM
one more time for the guys who aren't listening.
if there is going to be an attack, then obviously there will be more than the ONE fucking person who detonates the bomb. for instance if the perp turns out to be middle eastern, there is a STRONG possibility that he wasn't in it alone. that means more terrorists in the area...in case you didn't catch that.
another reason could be the looting and confusion that could ensue after an attack. i guaran-damn-tee you that if UT was bombed, there would be a short burst in crime during all the confusion. both have EVERYTHING to do with the other.
don't sound ignorant by implying that i was going to shoot a bomber that came to my house....
BTW: if there was rioting or mass looting, how long do you think it would take a police officer to get to my house?

Kanism
05-21-2003, 11:54 PM
I tell ya what...if I was lounging around a public place (that allowed registered gun owners to carry) and saw a freak waltz in with a bombing vest on....I'd sure as shit rather shoot him and watch him die than let him kill me and the others around me.

Delta

Very Good Mr. Kan.

I own several guns myself. I am well trained in using them and am in the process of getting my license to carry. I know for a fact that if a person were to break into MY house and I could get to my gun, then that person has a much better chance of catching two in the chest and one in the head than anything else.

Edit: and BTW I would reccomend the Sig Sauer or Beretta as a pistol. Very durable and simple to operate.

a revolver would be nice, but would have less bullets and would be tedious to reload.

yeah, you should stay out of this one...your feeble can't ever follow what i'm saying. did I say anything about shooting the actual bomber? no, i was pointing out that if you were to shoot at a person with a shotgun it would be almost impossible to miss. in fact if you actually took the time to read the very top post on the second page, you can CLEARLY see that i said the danger would lie within the people OTHER than the bomber. don't twist my posts, jackass.

once again, where the fuck are you getting your material? has anyone said that they were going to shoot terrorist suspects on the road?
god damn your idiocy pisses me off. the whole reason you are against guns, is because you are afraid that weak minded paranoid people, like yourself, would get a hold of these guns and kill everyone. i know in your 13 years of existence you probably haven't met many responsible adults, but there are more than you think. responsible people realize that there is a consequence for every action, and responsible people are the people that i am fighting for. do you think that we give concealed hand gun licenses out to criminals?....

the only things i worry about when people own guns are:

Children getting into them
Criminals Stealing Them
People snapping and going on rampages

two of the three can be solved by locking up guns.

Jeez, this thread is just full of wisdom. Of course putting your gun in a locked closet will keep the burglar who just broke into your locked house from getting them. Because the safe is probably the last place he'll be looking for valuables...

exactly, this is not the gun control thread. Having guns in no way protects us from terrorisim. Not the kind of terrorism we have to deal with here anyway.

what the hell is with you guys? are you not listening to me? how many times do i have to tell you that i'm not talking about the fucking suicide bombs. if all terrorists did was blow themselves up, then we wouldn't have to worry about killing them...they would eventually die off. i'm talking about the after effects of an attack. open your eye's to the idea and shut your mouths on the suicide bomber...
here are some quotes form me, in THIS thread i might add.
"terrorists have weapons that can kill me, while i currently do not own a gun"

"if the perp turns out to be middle eastern, there is a STRONG possibility that he wasn't in it alone"

"another reason could be the looting and confusion that could ensue after an attack. i guaran-damn-tee you that if UT was bombed, there would be a short burst in crime during all the confusion.....don't sound ignorant by implying that i was going to shoot a bomber that came to my house....

is anyone actually reading my posts, or are they just assuming they know what i said???
one more time "the real threat would be AFTER the attack. my situations have nothing to do with the actual bomber"

BTW: here's a memo my apt left us today...it doesn't have too much to do with this, but is interesting nonetheless

was there mass rioting, looting, raping after the WTC attack? I don't remember seeing anything...

the total breakdown of the system that you are talking about is very unlikey in our country. A gun is prob a million times more likely to protect you from a berguler than a terrorist.

chris, i am just going to ignore all your insults, as you don't know me at all and wouldn't know anything about me. but what does it matter anyways. if you think i am a pathetic idiot, than believe that.

so are you guys still against owning fire arms? shot guns sold out in austin on 9-11....i wish i had enough money to get myself one. this is fucking crazy

just read what you said chris and it says you want a gun. this statement being in the same sentence as a reference to 9/11, where everyone bought a gun to protect themselves. out of what you said, i take that you want to buy a gun to protect yourself against terrorists. that's just how it sounds to me.

the fact that terrorists have weapons that can kill me, while i currently do not own a gun.....or that the lib's on the board want to keep it that way

again the same thing, terrorist can attack you because they have guns, while you don't. just backs up what i said before. you want a gun to protect yourself. u currently don't own a gun, which means you are going to buy one, now that you are in fear, or whatever reason you have, not that you are a fearfull person.

i want a shotgun to make sure that i have a larger chance of hitting the HUMAN that i would be shooting at. think....then post, din

that really speaks for itself.

what the hell is with you guys? are you not listening to me? how many times do i have to tell you that i'm not talking about the fucking suicide bombs. if all terrorists did was blow themselves up, then we wouldn't have to worry about killing them...they would eventually die off. i'm talking about the after effects of an attack.

so what yould you want your shotgun/ handgun for?? just to feel protected from the aftermath of a suicide attack??
america must then be worse than i thought, if you need a shotgun to protect yourself from the uncivilized looting and killing and so on after the us has been attacked. funny how i didn't know that any of that happended after 9/11. maybe it's different in texas (no offence, just had to say that)

enough of that, waiting for an answer

chris_78660
05-22-2003, 08:07 PM
it's really not surprising me that you guys are this far off....i'm starting to get used to it.
i never said anything WOULD happen, but i do plan on being PREPARED FOR ANYTHING. i think the chances are extremly low of a terrorist attack on me, but an attack by a fellow american would be highly likely. i never said that it was only a terrorist i'm worried about.....hell, i'd be more afraid of you two with a gun.
my point is that we are in a high risk time period right now, that's just adding to the current crime rate that we have right now....i would rather be safe than sorry.

Dins, about the small nukes, the study is to find out if using small bunker buster nukes would be an efficient weapon against mile deep bunkers in places like Iraq, which is likely where saddam is. If you were a solder on the ground, I bet that you would rather send a bunker buster tac nuke than grab a gun and go down a tunnel. We test nukes under ground in Nevada and Utah all the time but you would never know, because subsurface detonations have little effect on the environment above. Not to mention, these nukes would use so little material, that even if used above ground it would likely not destroy more than a couple city blocks, or maybe even just one block or a floor of a building. But thats irrelevant, since we only want to find a way to use subsurface tactical nukes. It would melt the rock and cause the bunker to cave in while simultaneously radiating the enclosed space that no one would ever be able to physically reach because of the melt effect.

You need a gun to protect youself in case of general civil unrest, a potential situation following a terrorist attack, correct?

Don't you think a riot would be a lot less dangerous if the angry, looting mobs didn't have guns, and the cops did, and everybody knew it?

Do you honestly think it is 'safer' for the whole angry group of rioters have guns?

Wow, you're dumber than I thought...

A lot of Americans could learn a lot by living in a European country for a while. If for no better reason than to learn that when the general public don't have guns, neither do the criminals. It's a lot safer that way. When a burglar robs your house in the US, you know he's got a gun. That's scary. In Oslo, where I live, you know that the burglar is only there to steal stuff, not to shoot you. It's a lot less dangerous that way.

Having a gun is only a protective measure when you're the only one, or at least one of few, who has one.

That is a fact. I guarantee it. No need arguing here, you'll just make yourself look dumb.

I can't tell you the best way to get the guns out of America now that they're already there. But I promise it would be better (read: safer) if they weren't.

first off this BS off how they only want to "study" it is pathetic. BE HONEST GW, you want to build it, otherwise why "study" it. Second, what are we doing testing nukes? Isn't that in defiance with international agreement? When france tested a nuke a couple years back we got all pissed off, and now with N. Korea possibly trying to get nukes we are posturing for war to prevent that.

Or is the US planning on leading by the do what I say, not what I do doctorine?

Wow, you're dumber than I thought... It would also be alot less dangerous if everybody joined hands and sang happy songs until the emergency passed. Holy shit, you're naieve. Guess what? The criminals who would be rioting ALREADY HAVE GUNS. Do you know why gun laws don't affect criminals? Because they're fucking criminals, stupid. Gun laws only keep guns away from people who obey laws. As for the cops, in a riot their priority would be to protect govenment property, power plants, the water supply ect. Are the police going to post an officer on my front lawn to protect MY home and family? Somehow I doubt it. I guess I should let any asshole that already has an ILLEGAL gun burn my house and rape my girlfriend, right?

Alot of Europeans could learn alot by living in America for a while. America is a unique culture. There is still a individualist mindset here. What many Europeans derisively refer to as a "cowboy mentality" Maybe in Norway you are content to trust the government to protect the things that you care about. Many Americans are not. You're right. There is no point in argueing about it. You say silly pointless things like it would be better if there were no guns while admitting that you have no idea how this could be achieved. Most Europeans will never understand us and shouldn't even try to. Just a little side note: I have no idea what Oslo is like, but I'm from NYC. I have a feeling if I dropped you off by yourself on a corner in parts of Brooklyn or the South Bronx, you'd lose your self rightious attitude pretty quickly and gratefully accept a gun if it was given to you.

I know. If you read my whole post, I think I made it clear that I don't think there is a quick solution. But over time I think it is worth reducing the amount of guns in the US.

Also, you don't seem to understand that rioters aren't all criminals. Usually it's the general poulace taking andvantage of the lack of control. Remember the Rodney King riots? "Average Joe" wasn't rioting. He was home trying to protect his home and family from pieces of shit who used a jury verdict as an excuse to steal a VCR. Or maybe burn down a grocery that some Korean immigrant worked twenty hours a day to own. I guess you feel he shouldn't have the right to defend himself or his business. You can't deny all law abiding people the right to defend themselves because some chose to act like animals during a riot. And don't bother saying something stupid about the police protecting us.
