The Ziggy Stardust album is a masterpiece. I always feel like It Ain't Easy and Rock 'N' Roll Suicide never get enough credit.

'Scary Monsters'...that whole period he was living in Germany as a helpless junkie during the late 70's...brilliant. Culminating with 'Let's Dance' featuring the hot new guy from Texas, a young Stevie Ray Vaughan.
And wasn't he the first guy to raise capital by issuing a private bond for sale to the public based on the possible future earnings of his songs? The man is a genius.

Agreed. The Berlin period was my favourite era, and my favourite albums are Low and Station to Station, followed by Hunky Dory.

Yeah - that's great stuff.
I really liked the 'Tin Machine' era as well. I thought that sound was phenominal - and so fresh at the time.
Bowie is an innovator. Consistently throughout his career, when he reaches a certain point of brilliance in his music, he strips it down and starts from scratch to come up with something different but equally brilliant.

i'm getting his face & lyrics from space oddity tattooed on me, most likely on my shoulder.

Favorite Bowie songs (in no order):
- Lady Stardust
- Ziggy Stardust
- Fame
- Changes
- Life on Mars
- The Jean Genie
- Aladdin Sane
Maybe not the most "hardcore" list ever, but still the songs I could throw on repeat for eternity.

Huge fan of the early rocking Bowie. I got his cds from Space Oddity to Diamond Dogs. Haven't gotten into his later stages.
I love his longer songs like Cygnet Committee, Wild Eye Boy from Freecloud, Memory of a Free Festival, The Width Of A Circle, Quicksand, Time, Five Years and Sweet Thing-Candidate-Sweet Thing (Reprise).
Does he still write songs like these after the Diamond Dogs album? Cause it seems he goes more pop and dance instead of rock.
