Bloodbath: Death Metal or not?

I really like Bloodbath, I find them more 'melodic' than the majority of death metal bands, yet I've never heard any quibble about their death metal status, which is normally so prevalent in metal circles.

They even have breakdowns in some songs, which is normally an insult thrown around at 'core' bands.

So yeah, first the genre debate, then discussing how awesome Bloodbath are.
