I don't enter this part of the forum very frequently but I seek advice from the guitar/bass players of the forum. I am interested in getting back into playing bass again and I've looked into a lot of potential bass's and bass packages but I'm still not sure which would be good for a beginner. I had a bass about 5 years ago but I only played about 1/2 a year before I sold it. It was an Ibanez and I was pretty pleased with its performance. I'm trying to watch my spending and keep it under about 250 give or take, its not a lot to work with. What would you guys recommend?

I think a lot depends on the style of music you want to play. Before I got a custom bass I always used a Fender bass, but even with that their are a load of different fender basses to chose from.

Music is subjective so I maybe it would be a good idea to go to a music shop, try out a few basses around your price range, and see how you handle them and how you like their sound. Then order that one onlime (usually cheaper)

Like I said Fender seemed to do it for me, but I don't think their is any "best bass" in reality and it all comes down to what style you are looking for.

If you tell me what kind of music you are looking to play I might be able to give you some ideas.
