The new gameplay feels pretty nice. You start off with the madden test and than they decided to make the only real gameplay a madden moment where the Giants beat the Pats. Which is in my opinion why the demo is stupid as fuck cuz you don't even get to play a normal game, wtf. The test is pretty good, and it proved to me how shitty I am at playing anything defense wise. I got Rookie level on pass defense and rush defense. On Rush offense and pass I got all Pro, 1 point away from all Madden. The new features are pretty sweet. While you're selecting a play you can switch through stats like what happened last play, current player stats, and some other stuff. I like it. Will be trading in my copy of 08 and picking up 09 when it's out.

This is what bothers me....bad.

To be honest with you, I'd much rather pay like 75 or 80 bucks for a Madden game (or any other sports game) and be assured it is going to last for like 3+ years. They can easily do that and have all roster updates take place with online updates. Then take those years and come up with some new features that make a new game worth buying. The act of buying a sports game every year for minimal change and new jerseys and rosters is completely illogical, especially when those fuckers cost 60 bucks a pop. It was getting more tolerable on PS2 when they games were starting to cost like $20-30. Honestly...this method of production and release has driven me away from the sports genre for the most part.

I'd be up for spending less on the game and have like a $10 update each off season or some shit. If they are gonna charge, they can change stadiums and uniforms etc.

Not gonna happen.

Although a good idea your solution = less profits for EA.

Thank you, I've been saying this for a long time.

That's poor logic.

Using that, there should never have been a Halo 2 or 3 or a Gears of War 2.

Anybody else think it's getting a little too complicated?

I'm sure I would catch on quick, but I just want a goddamn football game.

THAT'S poor logic... halo 2/3 or gears of war 2 are actual sequels, so quite a bit of changes are made to justify a full purchase. Sports games on the other hand really only change rosters or maybe make some changes to the engine every now and then, but that's it (but you still have to pay full price for the game).

I'm sure they could come up with some study to keep it near the same or more. I would venture to guess that their sells of the original game would be higher with the new system. And then if they charged for the off season updates, the conversion rate would be large I'm sure. Plus you factor in the reduced production, printing, design, distribution costs, etc. of releasing a game every season, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a successful venture.

My logic never said sequels aren't needed, I said yearly sequels aren't needed. And please enlighten me on the amount of time between the games you are referencing. You are also talking about storyline based games, which sports games obviously aren't. My logic isn't flawed, your comprehension of my logic is flawed. I'm all for sequels, but take your time and give me an improved, new game. Not the same game with new jerseys and rosters.

I dont know it dosent seem to add up. Why charge you only about $10 for a yearly update when they could with little to no effort put a new update on the same engine and charge you 6 times the price.

Seems like you are grossly underestimating the effort and cost of producing and releasing a video game. And I know I'm not the only one who stop buying most of these sports games for this reason and would start buying them again if it was done differently.

I think we are all over thinking this....I mean this is EA games and all.......
