Haven't played a RTS in a longtime, and I'm carving for some right now.

So far I've went through warcraft, starcraft, dawn of war, age of empires/mythology, some early command and conquer and that's about it I think.

Generally the Total War series isn't exactly an RTS when we think about RTS games. Yes it is Real-Time, and it is Strategy, but I believe games like Ground Control and Total War need a different designation. Non-base building RTS? I dunno.

My suggestion would be any of the Command and Conquer games though. You can't really go wrong with any of them, even the latest C&C 3, which is very true to the original formula.

Yeah, I don't really have a good way to classify why it's different, it's just not something I think of when I think RTS. I think you know what I mean.

Yep i do indeed, its a very specific type of strategy game, RTS is to me like Dawn of War, C&C, Warcraft etc

Also, Earth 2160 is like 10 bucks. It's a solid choice.

TBH Total war series are my favourite strategy game and they kill any plain old RTS. But that is my preference.

Six strategy games for 10 bucks. The only one I played though was the moon project and it was pretty solid. Good if your pc is older.

AOEII, even though old and arcady (a bad thing i used to think) is still one of the best base building RTS games. ive been playing that shit for 3-4 years now, and i still find myself playing it from time to time.

I traded my friend C&C: Tiberian Sun for it, I really want to trade him back now, even though I do love AOE2.

are you trolling? it has an interface thats dumbed down to the level that a kid right out of gradeschool could beat a professor in military history. it's great that the nice gaming sites slapped a number down and convinced you to buy it, but i for one think that strategy games should be left as complex brutal as it is in real life, logistics, supply lines, medecal evacuations, patrols, air superiority, civilians, weather, mechanical problems, and all the things that are associated with war.
my medium battle tank defeats your light tank, try bringing a heavy tank next time LOL!. real warfare is not fucking chess.
